    Supply Chain Supervisor

    Role purpose

    •  Plan and manage supply chain operations related to supply planning, importation, warehousing, inventory management, transport logistics and distribution of vegetable seed in South Africa.
    •  Implement outstanding customer service strategies aimed at enhancing customer experience and drive business.

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    •  Lead sales & operations planning (S&OP) at country level in liaison with commercial and marketing teams to ensure commercial budgets are met.
    •  Design effective communication, collaboration and feedback mechanisms with local and international teams including preparation of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
    •  Follow upon stock transfer orders (STOs) for timely seed delivery.
    •  Ensure Import and Exports are managed efficiently.
    •  Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements including application of import permits and letters of authorization for importation of seed.
    •  Monitor management of inventory at distribution center including SAP system movements, cycle counts, quality testing and scrapping.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    Seed Process Engineering Specialist

    Role purpose

    •  Safeguard proper technology application in our seed processes and installations.
    •  As an expert role ensure proper definition and/or review of every seed processing project in the region
    •  Be able to execute seed projects independently and within a team

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    Knowledge and expert role

    •  Excellent knowledge of seeds plant operations and processing: harvesting, intake, dehusking, drying, shelling, storage, sizing, treating and bagging including seed quality aspects
    •  Be on top of Seed process technology developments in the industry and define needs for improvements and innovations
    •  Build trustful relations with industry vendors and other third parties
    •  Connect, interact with internal EMEA/Global peers/experts in operations, MEX, GE, E&T, PTT. Seek feedback from end users on applied technologies

    Project definition and project review

    •  Reviews every seed project on proper application of the available technology ensuring safe, productive and qualitative solution definitions
    •  Owns the development of process flow diagrams and P&ID’s for certain projects

    Research Associate - Testing

    Role purpose

    •  Responsible for the technical co-ordination and deployment of Field-Testing systems that deliver precision breeding for the South African corn breeding pipelines.
    •  Work with local seed production team, regional product development and design scientists and global enabling functions to optimize the in-season workstream using internal platforms for product development pipeline process streamlining.
    •  Responsible for the design, execution of a network of participatory managed breeding testing locations from Eastern South Africa agro-region.
    •  Additionally, the role is responsible for continuous improvement and strategic initiative projects that transform the way row crop plant breeding research is conducted within the organization through the use of new advanced and often proprietary equipment and technologies, data analytics, and testing design.
    •  Scope: Eastern South Africa Region (based at Petit, Benoni)

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    •  Responsible for the implementation of innovative technologies designed to enhance phenotyping capabilities, such as use of geospatial systems, advanced planting and harvesting equipment, automated data capture, environmental sensor instrumentation, aerial imagery applications, and digital operational management.
    •  Train and develop team members: onboarding, supervise and training of new seasonal employees/data collection teams.
    •  Become process owner for all trial packaging activities through optimization of workflows associated with cutting edge trial preparation systems, while adhering to and defining all safety requirements.
    •  Actively contribute to all planting and harvesting operations as a field operator, as per seasonal demands and team needs.
    •  Also provide technical (software) support to site owners during planting and harvesting operations.
    •  Plan, co-ordinate and execute work activities in collaboration with operations manager and peers to enable optimal resource use across the entire South African Testing network.
    •  Regularly extract, analyze and interpret data to gain insights into network design that aligns with product concept needs.
    •  This includes gaining insights into G x E patterns, location quality assessments, and other KPIs associated with field testing.
    •  Strategically co-ordinate all data collection activities for the South African testing network through planning and execution with other relevant research associates.

    Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

    •  BSc or MSc in Agricultural Science, Agric. Engineering, Agronomy, Crop Science or related fields with some relevant experience or at least 5+years operational experience in technology based Field-Testing environment.
    •  Broad knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment and row crop production practices and demonstrated experience of leveraging that knowledge in a research environment.
    •  Good knowledge of emerging trends in Precision Agriculture and crop monitoring.
    •  Good understanding and passion for emerging trends in agriculture.
    •  Strong competency with MS Office software products and statistical systems (desired) used in scientific data analysis, with ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools and demonstrated ability to gain insights from analyzed data to inform strategies.
    •  Good communication skills to enable global interactions internally and externally.
    •  Be heavily engaged in the effort of optimizing all current Field-Testing equipment.

    Sales Representative - Small Holder Farmer

    Role purpose

     

    •  Sales of DEKALB seed direct to Customers in the smallholder and emerging farmer segment ensuring that monthly and annual Sales and Delivery targets are met within SA and neighboring countries (Lesotho, Eswatini and Botswana)

    Quality Inspector - PSZA Nigel

    Role purpose

    •  To verify that produced products are within set parameters as defined through Bayer SOP's, specifications and instructions.
    •  Ensuring that all products are controlled, and quality defects reported and rectified prior to release for sale.

    Key responsibilities and tasks

    •  Execute in process quality controls in the production lines running periodic quality checks in production batches and verifying if operational checks are done according to the plan and results are following specified parameters.
    •  Ensure that all required quality documentation is in order, these to be part of the batch report.
    •  Responsible for in-process quality controls in production lines (e.g. visual inspection, identification, printing, sealing, weighing).
    •  Require from the production team process adjustments if the product is out of specification.
    •  Check if documents for batch production are correctly filled and if quality checks at operational level are appropriately done and reported, obeying the defined quality parameters.
    •  Check if tools and equipment used for quality checks in the plant are calibrated or in order.
    •  Liaise with line driver / foreman to ensure that production checklists are completed.
    •  Check if all documents, e.g. line clearance and packing directive, are attached to be part of the batch report. Provide orientation or training to operational teams in relation to quality parameters and methodology for quality tests. 
    •  Ensures that all quality inspection results are recorded on SAP and non-conformances are timeously reported and all the below is expected:
    •  Support customer complaints investigations
    •  Support non-conformances investigations
    •  Support 5Why focus groups
    •  Responsible for filing and controlling all laboratory documentation.
    •  Carry out functions/duties that may be expected within the confines of responsibility.
    •  Support quality controls activities in different areas when required and if according to the capabilities / skills

    •  Assisting with Incoming checks on Packaging and Raw Materials

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications

    •  Suitable candidate to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and a minimum of 2 years in quality department as a QC Inspector.
    •  Be able to check the status of product and release on SAP QM, Excel, Word, Outlook.
    •  Self-driven with minimal supervision, a problem solver, a team player, a trainer and most importantly a customer centric quality driven individual.
