KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure continuous improvement in product design, manufacturing process, cost, and quality
• Developing new products in accordance with product directives that have improved cost, quality, perceived quality and new features that match the market needs with the highest profitability.
• 3D and 2D design of products and metallic, plastic and packaging components
• Improving quality, perceived quality, adding new features and cost saving projects for current products to have increased competitiveness
• Project manage and ensure that new model projects and engineering changes are launched smoothly in production, being physically present in the production area with a hands-on approach.
• Liaise with the materials planning department to conduct run-out studies for new model projects and engineering changes
• Lead projects in conjunction with production engineering, purchasing, materials planning, quality and production departments
• Lead trouble shooting and problem-solving activities
• Lead benchmark activities on competitor products
• Creating and auditing Bills of Material
• Maintain an effective quality system through regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with SABS and ISO standards
• Ensure projects are managed in accordance with Defy project management procedures
• Achievement of factory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and successful projects deployments.
• Monitor and review compliance to the project scope
• Ensure projects are completed on time
• Material Improvement Projects to continuously reduce product cost

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• BSc Degree (Mechanical / Electronic Engineering)  
• Experience in 2D & 3D CAD drawing and modelling
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• 5 years Product Development / Project Management experience
• A good understanding of Sheet Metal Design Principles, Plastics & Electrical Components would also be advantageous

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintaining accuracy and integrity of IPS system and Driving IPS production meetings
• Providing visibility to the sales team on stock shortages and opportunities
• Daily, weekly & monthly reporting (Production, stock & sales)
• Database management of the planning system (IPS)
• Aged stock management for Defy, Beko & Grundig
• Publishing daily, weekly, and monthly sales and stock performance reports
• Increasing turnover, operating profit and net sales for Defy domestic and exports SKUs
• Controlling stock levels (current, aged and discontinued for Defy, Beko and Grundig SKUs)
• Stock planning for peak season

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain management or related areas.
• Preferably 3 – 5 years’ experience in a Supply Chain environment.
• Experience in production planning.
• Knowledge and experience in working with SAP.

• Ensure cost effective replacements of tools,
• Maintenance of tools, jigs and dies to the maximum up time,
• Adhere to company health and safety and housekeeping standards,
• Develop / fabricate new equipment,
• Liaise with relevant departments regarding their specific requirements and train subordinates,
• Limit reworks and non-conforming product,
• Problem solving on tools, jigs and dies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric certificate,
• Trade tested Tool, Die and Jig maker,
• Minimum 5 years industry experience,
• Previous maintenance experience and a willingness to learn,
• Good communication skills,
• Press tooling and injection moulds repairs essential
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• CNC Experience, (Milling mc and Wire cutter)
