    Technical Coordinator - Mining

    Job Description

    To maintain, trouble-shoot, fault-find and ensure repair of all drilling rigs and auxiliary equipment to ensure maximum availability and utilization . The incumbent must manage technical staff on site, prioritize breakdowns and plan preventative maintenance to ensure maximum machine availability. The incumbent must have the ability to assist the production and maintenance teams on day-to-day technical problem solving at various sites. Ability to deal with suppliers and clients.

    Duties:

    1. Breakdown prioritization

    2. Preventative maintenance planning

    3. Ensure maximum machine availability

    4. Ensure accurate recording and reporting of data and information

    5. Share technical expertise and helps the technical crew on site

    6. Be fully compliant with the safety culture of the Mining and/or drilling Industry

    7. Manage project execution

    8. Track and report on project milestones and provide appropriate status reports to management and relevant departments

    Qualifications

    • Minimum N6 National Certificate – Mechanical Engineering

    • Qualified red seal mechanical artisan with 5 years’ experience in track mobile equipment

    • 3 years’ experience in a Supervisory position

    • Experience on hydraulic systems and components on drill rigs (pumps, valves, motor, etc.).

    • Experience on electrical systems and components on drill rigs (proximity device, pressure transducers, encoders, etc.).

    • Must have basic boiler making skills (welding and grinding).

    • Experience on air cooled and water-cooled diesel engines.

    • Able to read electrical, mechanical and design drawings

    • History of working in the open cast mining and/or drilling industry with tracked mining equipment

    • Functional Knowledge – Good understanding of procedures and concepts within own discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines

    • Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in influencing people and outcome

    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite

    • Logical thinker with analytical capabilities

    • Problem solving abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Own transport and valid drivers’ license

    Junior Mechanical Engineer

    Job Description

    Reporting to the technical director, the incumbent needs to be a junior engineer with experience in 3D modeling and drafting. Ability to deal with suppliers and clients.  At this level the incumbent must manage specific projects or specialized functions within a project, i.e. evaluating cost, drafting designs and project management.  The incumbent must have the ability to assist the production and maintenance teams on day-to-day technical problem solving at various sites. This will require travel to these sites to assist in design implementation.

    Duties:

    1. Model and draft designs in AutoCAD Inventor.

    2. Run with the various projects

    3. Keep accurate records of all the various projects

    4. Share technical expertise and helps the Mechanical Engineer

    5. Be fully compliant with the safety culture in the Mining and/or drilling Industry

    6. Manage project development from initial inquiry to project execution

    7. Track and report on project milestones and provide appropriate status reports to management and relevant departments

    Qualifications

    • University Degree - Mechanical Engineering (BSc, B.Eng. or B. Tech or minimum N6 Diploma)

    • 2 Years working experience as a mechanical engineer

    • CAD design experience (Autodesk Inventor preferably)

    • Project Management exposure or experience

    • Functional Knowledge – Good understanding of procedures and concepts within own discipline and a basic knowledge of these elements in other disciplines

    • Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in influencing people and outcome

    • Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite

    Qualifications

    • A recognized degree or diploma in the Human Resources field

    • The Human Resource Manager will be required to have a minimum of 5-10 year HR-related experience including hiring, managing, performance reviews, compensation packages, etc.  

    • Exposure or experience in the drilling and/or mining sectors
