Duties & Responsibilities

• Edit submitted news copy to ensure it meets all quality benchmarks, is free of errors and meets the standards of the Press Code, all relevant legislation and News24’s style guide;
• Rewrite intros and angles of news stories to make them more appealing for our readers;
• Assist the head of breaking news with identifying and evaluating national and regional news events and enterprise hard news and feature stories;
• Assist with assigning stories to reporters and freelancers, briefing them clearly on the angle(s) of coverage;
• Debrief reporters during or after the editing process, as deemed necessary;
• Assist with producing a comprehensive daily news diary from our reporters and freelancers in the northern provinces;
• Report and investigate news stories when necessary;
• Keep abreast of local, provincial, national and important international news.

Job Description

The BI Support role primarily aims to streamline and improve the sales and BI processes by offering strategic support, managing CRM data, and aiding in sales tasks and insert management processes. It serves as a crucial link between data analysis and sales, providing the team with the insights needed for informed decision-making and enhanced performance.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate data input for CRM and reporting by loading new customers on Adpoint.
• Create and manage insertion orders (IOs) with precision, liaising with Key Account Managers and clients.
• Chase necessary documents, confirm orders, and facilitate smooth operations between Ad Operations and billing to prevent credits.
• Resolve billing and system issues, highlighting any technical problems to ensure optimal system performance.
• Identify and correct data input errors to guarantee reliable data.
• Provide insightful reporting on sales revenue performance, top clients, KAM tracking, advertiser analysis, and more.
• Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests, delivering reports that drive decision-making.
• Manage special projects such as quarterly print orders, non-publishing days, management presentations, competitor analysis, and website data updates.
• Enabling constant improvement in performance to support the sales teams as well as the business’s overall targets and objectives.

Key requirements:

• Relevant qualification from a tertiary institution, preferably with an Admin, BI, Data Analyst qualification.
• A proactive individual with at least 2 years of experience in BI or sales support roles.
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel a must.
• Proficiency in SAP, Adpoint, Google Ad Manager and Qlick is preferable.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.
• A problem-solver who can manage time effectively and complete tasks with accuracy and speed.

Job Description:

We want a journalist confident in shooting, editing and field-producing in various environments under tight deadlines. Someone who is passionate about news and current affairs and has experience in independently creating news features from pitch to publication using video and a wide range of editing techniques. There will also be opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues in the newsroom. 

Role requirements and attributes:

• Cultivate a diary with original story ideas daily
• Pitch, develop, shoot and edit video stories
• Excellent English-language writing: you'll be expected to draft voiceover scripts, subtitles, headlines, and captions
• Rich research and interviewing skills
• An advanced-level understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop & Audition)
• Can present a strong showreel and portfolio showing news experience
• Be able to work nights and weekends when required: occasional travel outside the province may be required

• Experience in live streaming;
• Experience in Adobe After Effects and motion graphic

Main purpose of the role:

To report jointly and individually on health-related events, developments and topics for regular news articles to better inform readers on the context of events and to expose underlying issues

• Gather, write and present informative news reports related to health topics, including investigative reports and features;
• Perform ongoing research and investigate news events;
• Break news of significant national importance through confirmation and accurate sourcing;
• Gather and analyse information, have insight into its core and present it as a stimulating, cohesive report;
• Keep on top of developments regarding the National Health Insurance scheme, analyse budgetary information and other data and translate this information into engaging articles for readers;
• Build up a network of local and national contacts in communities and across the health sector, in both public and private organisations; and
• Work closely with colleagues and editors to brief them about stories and how best to utilise the information obtained;
• Maintain a daily and weekly news diary, ensuring News24 stays abreast of significant events and briefings.
