    Manager: Financial Consolidation & Reporting

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Manager:  Financial Consolidation & Reporting Fintech will contribute to the successful development, launch and implementation of Finance Operation strategy by driving and leading the financial consolidation and management reporting process.

    The Manager is responsible to oversee & manage activities related to period end, consolidation and reporting. The purpose of this job is to act as a subject matter expert for the consolidation, period close reporting and intercompany accounting

    The role is also responsible to anticipate and control financial risk by ensuring the availability of accurate current financial data and the provision of financial resources that are aligned to business objectives.

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's) 

    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Provide reports and analysis to support and contribute to the development of the finance operations strategy in line with the overarching business goals
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to enable the regular review of the finance operational strategy, roadmap, and performance to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem

    Operational Delivery

    • Drive and lead the FinTech financial and management reporting process, by designing and implementing reporting policies
    • Support Opcos in completing their period end activities in line with the frameworks established
    • Support in the preparation & consolidation of financial results (financial information) for monthly, quarterly and annual results as well as forecast, high level budgets and business plans
    • Manage intercompany transactions and account types to be used to account for intercompany transactions as per defined/approved frameworks
    • Manage the preparation, review and distribution of the audit plan, audit instructions
    • Support & manage external audit process by way of obtaining information in a time bound manner to assist in timely completion of the audit
    • Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports for Group Exco, Group Board and Group Audit Committee including monthly, quarterly, and annual results as well as forecast, high level budgets and business plans
    • Support the SM in preparing external financial results reports for analyst community, press advertisements, JSE (if applicable) and statutory purposes in compliance with IFRS, JSE and King III requirements
    • Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate reporting systems/solutions for financial reporting requirements
    • Maintain financial integrity of the financial data, financial processes, procedures and financial controls in line with established accounting processes, regulations governing the business and internal control policies, this include IFRS standards and approved MTN Group definitions
    • Prepare and monitor performance management reports which supports management decision making
    • Coordinate with OpCo’s, Group Finance and other stakeholder for all reporting requirements within FinTech
    • Review and ensure compliance to SLA’s for partners
    • Manage & oversee the period-end close process
    • Manage and facilitate approvals manual transactions/journals
    • Manage the closing of relevant account classes
    • Review and facilitate approval of all cost centre, profit centre, cost element and internal order creation
    • Review intercompany confirmations
    • Review monthly accounts prepared after the sub-ledgers have been reconciled to general ledger
    • Review the initiated requests for automated/or recurring journals
    • Maintain all accounts of the company in accordance with the guidelines to ensure subsequent period end reporting is correct and accurate
    • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to the end-to-end general ledger (GL) function
    • Perform knowledge management planning and ensure backup resourcing to avoid loss of knowledge/information due to attrition
    • Drive quality improvement processes within the Intercompany and period close teams
    • Ensure seamless migration of process from retained organisation into the SSH and continue services provided with highest standards
    • Review the internal queries documents and liaise with internal departments as necessary

    Year End and Interim Reporting

    • Take responsibility for overseeing interim and year-end audit and hard-close
    • Prepare and submit audit files together with all supporting schedules for auditors to ensure completion within Group Deadlines
    • Prepare and perform first review of Annual Financial Statements for all companies within set deadlines

    Governance

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

    Education:

    Experience:

    • 4-5 years experience in finance or finance operations related roles in a Fintech or financial services environment
    • 2-3 years experience in managing Group Consolidations function of a large multinational company
    • Experience in a managerial position
    • Experience in accounting for complex consolidations in a multinational environment
    • Experience in ecommerce and electronic payment business is advantageous

    Senior Manager: Treasury Operations

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Senior Manager: Treasury Operations is responsible to lead and manage the centralised Treasury support function and operational process across the group to improve efficiencies and manage risk based on the approved Treasury Policy as amended from time to time.

    The SM is responsible the oversight & delivery of the centralized and formal treasury front, middle and back-office function and associated operational processes across Finco group & Opcos to improve efficiencies and manage risk based on the approved Treasury Policy as amended from time to time.

    Further, the Senior Manager is responsible for assessment of treasury risk and develop risk mitigation strategy/solutions and manage the effective buy-in and implementation the risk management strategy/solutions.

    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Provide strategic input to the overall Treasury strategy and operational plan
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure solutions are in line with global best practices and are implemented as required

    Operational Delivery

    • Ensure appropriate processes and controls at holding company and subsidiary level to ensure compliance with the treasury policy.
    • Monitor the risk profile of holding companies and Group, and assess the impact due to any limitations or sanctions on the operating subsidiaries
    • Custodian for all External loans created through Funding Requirements and Banking relationship
    • Review and manage Forex forecasts including advising on all foreign exchange transaction principles to senior stakeholders within Opcos in the business
    • Determine, evaluate, negotiate and manage the effective implementation of structured products for risk management and yield enhancement

    Treasury systems

    • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the appropriate Treasury Management Systems and integration to ensure consolidated risk reporting and integrated risk management
    • Ensure successful integration with leading 3 party market intelligence suites, such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Concorde, etc. or any other system as deemed appropriate for real time updates and market reports
    • Oversee the implementation of electronic banking system in order to manage bank accounts and cash balances across the BVIs and the holding companies on a real time basis and settle transfers and payments electronically. Also leverage Bloomberg/Reuters treasury portals for real time market information

    Treasury management and reporting

    • Provide advisory support and guidance on treasury functions including hedging, deal management and financial risk management.
    • Lead the reporting to the Group Treasury committee, Risk committee and Audit committee on back/middle office functions
    • As part of managing the Operational Treasury portfolio manage the regular cash flow forecasting/reporting activities. Provide oversight on of all dividend/management fee flows, funding flows
    • Manage overall liquidity of Group Finco and cash positions

    Regulatory compliance

    • Responsible to oversee SARB applications, reporting and management & compliance) and any FSB and associated issues.
    • Oversee and ensure availability of appropriate and complete filing systems for auditing and ongoing requirements.
    • Responsible to ensure compliance with terms of loan agreements including compliance certificates.
    • Relationship management and mandates with the banks in respect of back/middle office functions
    • Lead the management of banks accounts and relevant strategies thereof
    • Develop relationships with banks that are mutually beneficial for both Finco and the bank

    Asset and liability management

    • Ensure development of detailed breakdown and appropriate filing and system management for all holding company assets and liabilities including intercompany loans, investments and sanction fund management. Guarantees and letter of comfort issued and managed
    • Review and oversee the development of templates, tools and operational procedures. Identify uncovered FX positions and recommend solutions within policy
    • Oversee and provide guidance on Group funding and special projects

    Cashflow forecasts

    • Oversee and manage the planning and up streaming of cash for operations and managing of liquidity

    Lead and review reporting on cash positions, investment management

    • Provide the necessary information and process to ensure adequate solvency and liquidity for compliance to the new companies act, by country and by currency (by bank) as well as ability to manage shorter term liquidity.

    Governance

    • Strategic Meetings
    • Participate in strategic meetings, ensure relevant participation, and provide guidance and input in the various discussions. Solicit feedback and input from Finco Opcos
    • Drive adequate risk mitigation and controls and elicit inputs from relevant parties

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies) 

    Education:

    • Minimum of 4-year tertiary degree (Bachelor’s Degree in a Financial, Commerce, Statistical, Credit Risk Management or related CA Certification
    • Chartered Accountant (SA)
    • Professional certification in Risk and/or Finance such as Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF)

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years post qualification experience plus at least 3-4 years of experience in Treasury Operations management preferably in in a multi-currency and multi geography Treasury role
    • Understanding and experience of treasury accounting including FX, liquidity, cashflow and various financial instruments
    • At least 3-4 years of experience in foreign exchange and money market dealing, loan administration, foreign payments settlements and confirmation, forex reconciliations
    • Manager track record of 3-4 years or more
    • Experience in the Financial Services, Fintech, Banking sectors is preferred
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies
    • Prior experience Financial Services preferred

    Senior Manager: Treasury and Capital Markets

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Senior Manager: Treasury and Capital Markets is responsible for active management of Opcos with regard to decision making as well as, where required, efficient strategies towards the determination, implementation, and execution of Finco financial market instruments within the broad mandate including risk management, yield enhancement, foreign exchange, and money market transactions.

    Further the SM  is accountable to drive and steer the long term capital financing and investment strategy consolidation. The role will support Group Leadership with strategic decision-making processes to ensure appropriate resource allocation. The incumbent is required to lead the Capital, Investment and Funding processes for Group and Opcos to ensure that principles, practices and methods are clearly understood and strictly adhered to.

    • Manage all the requirements of debt holders and credit rating agencies, ensuring compliance and adherence to their frameworks and parameters.
    • Provide expert assistance and guidance to Opcos in financial structuring, long term investment evaluations and cash upstreaming management

    • CA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (advantageous)
    • MBA or Masters (advantageous)

    Experience:

    • 8 – 10 years of relevant experience in Treasury, Capital Management / Capital Investment & funding roles
    • 3 – 5 years of relevant working managerial experience in the Financial Services, Fintech, Banking sectors
    • Working experience in foreign exchange and money market dealing, loan administration, foreign payments settlements and confirmation, forex reconciliations.
    • Extensive exchange control knowledge and experience is essential,
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization

    Executive: Group Business Finance

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    The MTN Group Business Finance Leader is accountable to lead, operate and manage Core Business-led Finance operations. The role leads three core finance sub functions and outcomes which impact and influence financial business performance for the Group:

    • Accountable to proactively monitor, review and constructively challenge the financial efficacy and soundness of business strategy, budgets, plans and reported outcomes in context to the business operations.
    • Oversee business partnering operations and proactively engage/advise Manco Business Leaders and Regional Vice Presidents on matters including financial forecasts, operational goals and annual budgets in order to achieve strong financial fundamentals and strategic priorities
    • Accountable to successfully build, implement and lead an efficient and strong capital allocation and management framework policies, DOAs, governance structures, innovative capital utilization, profitability models and practices for Group and it’s business operations across markets
    • Execute responsibilities as the Group Executive representative at Local Capital Allocation Committee for Tier 1 Opcos and other subsidiary entities (as allocated), evaluate investment proposals related to capital investment and assess financial / business viability. Also provide guidance and stewardship to Tier 2 and Tier 3 CAMC on drivers for evaluating investment proposals
    • Identify opportunities and provide recommendations to maximize returns on investment. Build accountability across the Opco/Platform management teams by strategically aligning Executive performance to investment portfolio and expected RoI

    Accountable to independently advise the Group CFO and Executive Committees on material matters which impact profitability, portfolio transformation and growth ambitions. Include, but not limited to:

    • Long/Short Range Capital Planning and Allocation
    • Material capital investment studies and recommendations
    • Portfolio transformation initiative evaluations and recommendations thereof
    • Expert level consultation and advisory practices to business unit leaders on cost and investment transformation initiatives including resource allocation and profitability management
    • Accountable to govern and steer group finance business plan and reporting cycles (plan development, Opco guidance and cascades, adjustment principles etc.) including, top-down business plan target, revenue plan, business/financial plans, and budget management. Present outcomes, insights and recommendations to Group CFO, Group EXCO and Group Board (as required)
    • Responsible to institute business-relevant reporting models, including segmented reporting framework, standards and principles to improve Executive decision making
    • Responsible to oversee and present the Group Annual Budgets (and periodic budgetary performance & analytics) to respective Group authorities as per the Delegation of Authority (DoA).
    • Steward and direct MTN Opco/Platform Business CFOs to continuously improve reliability of forecasting, planning, budgeting, reporting and analytics, to drive optimum financial prudence and performance
    • Review Executive reports, deliverables and presentations with respect to annual budgets, business performance metrics, capital allocation etc. at Group Exco, Steering Committees and Board Sub-Committees (as applicable) to support business decision making and contribute to the attainment of Group’s strategic objectives and targets
    • Executive review and authorization (in consultation with the Group CFO, Investor Relations Office, Company Secretary and Legal Office) of MTN’s annual and interim earnings releases, financial statements and management discussion and analysis. Ensure the information communicated to the public fairly portrays MTN’s financial position
    • Manage and address material financial matters with the external auditors. Communicate transparently and collaborate to the fullest extent possible by providing all relevant support to internal and external auditors and to the Audit Committee
    • Jointly accountable with the Group Finance Operations and Controls team to improve financial reporting data quality standards, enhanced integrated reporting reliability through improved processes, policies, systems/technologies and control frameworks across the Group

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Qualified Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 4-year tertiary degree
    • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body in Finance and Accounting bodies
    • Fluent in English (French and Arabic advantageous)

    Experience:

    • 5 years of more experience as a seasoned general manager; with at least 3 – 5 years in the ICT Sector
    • 10+ years of experience in leading business finance functions of large multinational company
    • Proven track record of a start-up, shut-down and/or business improvement project
    • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding emerging market
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies
    • Expertise and experience in instituting and leading:
    • Complex financial planning, reporting and analytics in a multi-country environment.
    • Capital Management operations (including allocation, utilization, modelling and governance)
    • Business Partnering operations for Group/Headquarter businesses
    • Experience in managing a large team made up of mainly highly qualified individuals

    Specialist: Incident and Event Management

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The Specialist: Incident & Event Management will be responsible to manage and oversee the information security incident and event processes across Group Finco to ensure consistent detection, diagnoses, analysis and response to security incidents and events, ensuring minimal disruption to business and to restore normal service operations in an optimal timeframe. The Incident & Event Management role will focus on embedding best practice processes, tools and frameworks to the Group to provide seamless customer experience (internal/ external) perspective.

    • Drive synergies and operational efficiencies by proactively identifying resolutions
    • Monitor and track the incidents & events impacts to the business operations at the OpCo’s (where required)
    • Define the incidents & events management process and policy for information security across the business, including definition of incidents, events, classification and prioritization and standard target resolution times. – to be aligned with ITIL, COBIT, NIST, and/or ISO 27035 as driven by business requirements
    • Implement the information security framework, toolkits and standards to incidents & events management
    • Monitor incidents across the OpCo’s to define common themes and opportunities for improvement at the Group Finco level
    • Define metrics to measure the severity of the incident and event cases logged
    • Deliver best practice cyber-security incident and event management capabilities
