    Executive Secretary Managing Director's Office

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Managing operations pertaining to running of the Managing Director’s office in order to provide an effective and professional administrative service.
    • Managing, screening and prioritizing all correspondence to the MD and action or re-direct to applicable departments as appropriate. 
    • Reviewing and printing all reports loaded on German E-Room for KPK, P-Runde and PSK meetings as well as daily Presseschau to establish which articles are relevant and applicable to South Africa and highlight to the MD.
    • Managing an effective follow-up system to ensure that all deadlines are met.
    • Coordinating the MD’s diary by liaising with MD’s direct reports, secretaries locally and within VW Group to set up required virtual or face to face meetings, or overseas trips to ensure an efficient operation of all activities.
    • Arranging local and overseas travel bookings, flights, accommodation, transport and relevant documentation including passports, visas etc. 
    • Processing the MD’s expense claims, corporate card statements, petty cash etc. to adhere to administration procedures related to these.
    • Ensuring that Security is informed of relevant activities that involve the MD, for their information and action.
    • Compiling monthly report on the absence of direct reports from the Plant for MD’s information.
    • Assisting the Company Secretary with the Scheduling of Board and Committee Meetings and providing the requisite administrative support, including attendance at meetings and minute-taking.
    • Ensuring that filing systems and records within the Secretariat Office are well managed and archived appropriately.
    • Scheduling Board induction workshops for new Board members. 
    • Maintaining Board and Board Committee calendars, seeking and monitoring Director’s availability for additional meetings.
    • Maintaining accurate documentation of corporate governance activities and processes, including updating and maintaining the statutory books for subsidiary companies.

    Education and Experience    

    • ND Administrative Management or equivalent
    • Minimum 7 years Secretarial experience, with 4 - 5 years at an Executive secretarial level.

    2x Maintenance Technician - PA

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Repair faulty equipment and parts i.e. welding guns, servo-pneumatic valves, transmission modules, tucker guns, sealer equipment to ensure availability of spare parts and equipment (spare part management). 
    • Resolve robotic electronic communication faults by adjusting the robotic program to prevent re-occurring robot communication faults and ensure uninterrupted production process. 
    • Analyse, fault find, repair and optimise sealer, toxing, welding, laser, bolting and rivet joining technology equipment failure to ensure achievement of quality requirements and efficient production process. 
    • Analyse PLC programs to resolve errors and determine root causes of Interbus or Profinet network errors, determine corrective actions to continue with the Production process and ensure uninterrupted Production run. 
    • Fault find, set up and program SEW drives by using the appropriate diagnostics software/tools such as Movitools, Motion Studio to ensure uninterrupted Production run. 
    • Modify, update and improve diagnostic software on HMI to identify the faulty equipment to facilitate speedy resolution to Production stoppages. 
    • Analyse and investigate severe or reoccurring Production stoppages to determine the real root cause of the stoppage and determine the appropriate preventative action and counter measure to ensure that the reoccurring of the fault are eliminated and/or prevented. 
    • Contact equipment suppliers and technology experts within the VW Group to enquire regarding solutions to complex equipment problems and failures to ensure pending or reoccurring faults are eliminated or prevented. 
    • Document Production stoppages, severe breakdowns, problem sheet, Knowledge Management System, TPM Sheets and PM schedules to ensure all maintenance activities are documented, distributed and knowledge is retained, made available and utilised to prevent future stoppages or breakdowns. 
    • Conduct root cause analysis of all breakdowns immediately after completing the breakdown, by analysing the situation, causes, countermeasures and actions, ensuring that all is recorded and reported on required control sheets and documents. 
    • Ensure that the robot Safety circuit is in good working order and that all the required condition that meets the safety standards is installed. 
    • Download robot and PLC program backups to ensure quick recovery of the facilities in the event of a loss of data. 

    Education and Experience    

    • A National Nated Diploma/ National Diploma/ B Tech/B Eng./ B Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Mechatronics. 
    • At least 5 years in vehicle manufacturing maintenance and/or technical environment.

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    

    ESSENTIAL:

    • Siemens PLC and robot training would be a distinct advantage. 
    • Able to read E-Plan Electrical and Pneumatic drawings
    • Have a strong analytical, diagnostic capabilities and problem solving ability. 
    • Prepared to undergo and successfully pass an appropriate assessment
    • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, public holidays, Plant shut down, whenever necessary and/or required.
    • Willingness to be on Standby roster
    • Willingness to complete and pass compulsory VASS 
    • Have a good attendance record.

    Chassis Engineer

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Responsibility for the integration, evaluation and release of chassis components for local projects, including Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) requirements.
    • The resolution of design related problems on manufactured platforms (problem solve complex components).
    • Component systems include, but are not limited to braking, steering, suspension, wheels, tyres and fuel.
    • Supporting local, SSA and European supplier base with manufacturing and process improvement recommendations, thereby ensuring integrity of parts supplied.
    • Project management of components under your responsibility, ensuring that chassis components are timeously introduced into production within the specified time and cost parameters.
    • Preparing technical feasibility studies, cost analysis of components, systems and projects.
    • Creating and tracking development timing plans.
    • Evaluation and implementation of the VW Group design changes.
    • Maintenance of Technical Data Systems for chassis components.
    • Assist with line and quality problems, special investigations, etc.
    • Evaluation and implementation of Product cost optimisations.

    Education and Experience    

    • National Diploma / BTech / BSc Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in design and development of automotive components (Chassis) for volume production which should cover:
    • Testing of automotive components in real and simulated environments
    • Working with engineering data systems
    • Working cross-divisionally with Purchasing, Quality, Production, Logistics and Finance.

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    

    ESSENTIAL:

    • Knowledge of modern Chassis components and systems, specifically braking, steering, suspension, wheels, tyres and fuel systems.
    • Complete vehicle evaluation or Chassis (brakes, wheels, tyres, etc.) component evaluation experience.
    • Knowledge of modern automotive production methods.
    • Knowledge of project management principles.
    • Understanding of basic financial principles.
    • Self-motivation, good time management, report writing and presentation ability.
    • The ability to conduct Technical Presentations.
    • The ability to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
    • MS Office computer literacy.
    • A working knowledge of the German language will be an advantage.
    • Code 08 Drivers Licence, high speed driving experience would be advantageous

    Fitter (Mechanical)

    Job Description and Responsibilities    

    • Correcting various Mechanical, faults on machines in order to ensure production continuity.
    • Assessing breakdowns and develop alternative solutions to prevent re-occurrences.
    • Ensuring machine availability, safety, accuracy and performance for continuous production within area of responsibility.
    • Planning and developing modifications for conventional equipment on various machines in order to reduce maintenance costs.
    • Supporting production with new facility installations and commissioning to ensure proper functionality.
    • Resolve robotic faults to prevent problems and ensure uninterrupted production process.
    • Analysing and solve mechanical problems.
    • Execute improvement projects in Press Shop.
    • The position is labour intensive and will involve stripping and assembling of presses.
    • To perform Planned and Preventative maintenance activities during production hours as well as on weekends.
    • Participate in on the job training with maintenance personnel.
    • Compile and write work instructions for equipment.(how to documentation)
    • Be able to upgrade existing systems and equipment to latest technology levels to improve productivity. 

    Education and Experience    

    • National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) – Mechanical trade test will be advantageous.
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ relevant mechanical experience in the Press / Automotive maintenance environment.

    Skills, Attributes & Other requirements    

    ESSENTIAL:

    • Ability to analyze and correct any deviation of machine performance from the manufactures specification
    • Ability to perform under pressure.
    • Mechanical experience is essential. (Clutches, gearboxes. hydraulic systems, pneumatics.)
    • Able read mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings.
    • Robotic experience is advantages
    • Be a driven, self-starter, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Be methodical, organized and thorough.
    • Be able to work in confined spaces & work at heights.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Be prepared to work shifts, weekends and overtime on short notice.
    • Computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Press shop experience would be an added advantage
