    Community Relations Officer x 12

    Job Description:

    We have 12 exciting Community Relations Officer opportunities at our flagship mine, Mogalakwena Complex. The role needs to initiate appropriate systems within the function / process to optimize the impact of Community Relations for the Operational Unit. The time frame of work is 1 to 2 years, but some plans will be on a longer timeframe.

    As a Community Relations Officer, some of your duties will include:

    • Day to day interface with predefined communities and Community Relations related to the operation
    • Give accurate and approved feedback to the stakeholders on programmes, projects, complaints and grievances
    • Identify commitments made and ensure effective communication and that expectations around commitments are met
    • Engage with social performance team to ensure accurate input for the Area of Influence profiling regarding socio-political and other contexts
    • Provide input in to the local area profile as part of AASW v3 (Review and Planning tool kit) in terms of major key issues and impacts, safety issues on the local communities and other relevant stakeholders
    • Coordinate, attend and report on Community engagement Forums and conduct periodic meetings with other external stakeholders
    • Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with internal and external stakeholders

    This role is in the Social Performance department at a Band 7 level reporting to the Community Relations Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree or equivalent with a professional qualification, related to Community Stakeholder Engagement / Community Development / Conflict Management
    • Post Gradate qualification in Social Science, Sociology or Theology (advantageous)
    • Experience with data systems (advantageous)
    • Valid driving license

    Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

    • Minimum three years post-qualification experience in community relations / stakeholder engagements / conflict management 
    • Fluent in English and the Region’s language(s)
    • Trained in Community Engagement approaches and stakeholder management systems, conflict management systems or any other
    • Advanced Computer skills

    Section Manager Load and Haul OC

    Your key responsibilities will include: 

    • Develop, maintain, update, and communicate all legal and operational policies, procedure, standards, and guidelines relevant to the area of responsibility.
    • Create and implement agreed upon operational planning and production targets, ensuring that integrated operational plans are practically designed, executable and support the business strategy.
    • Financial budgeting and management.
    • Effective People Management: Ensure that roles are clearly defined and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability.
    • Asset optimisation of operational capabilities.
    • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, understand and deliver on their operational needs, and identify and resolve issues timeously.
    • Demonstrate behaviours in line with safety, health and environmental standards.

    This role forms part of the Mine Production Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Manager Mining.

    Qualifications:

    • Completed Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant NQF 7 equivalents
    • Opencast or Rock Breaker Blasting Certificate
    • Completed or in the process of completing a postgraduate qualification would be advantageous

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 7 years demonstrated mining production experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within open pit mining operations
    • Advanced knowledge and extensive experience in load & haul and pit dewatering
    • Strong understanding and knowledge of mine planning
    • Proficient in assessing management principles around open pit mining and related equipment and associated operational standards and philosophies
    • Contractor Management experience
    • Advanced budget and cost control experience
    • Experience in project management would be advantageous

    Track Dozer Operator OC X5

    Job Description:

    Your key responsibilities will include

    Ensures work/loading areas are in an acceptable condition for use:

    • Build new roads as and when required according to set requirements
    • Ensure that the loading areas are well maintained by dozing
    • Ensure that there are no spillages in the loading area
    • Monitor condition of loading area/ and respond appropriately to deviations
    • Clean all spillages in area
    • Dress the loading area with fines as required
    • Ensure that required grade elevation is maintained
    • Keep floors level by ripping off any high spots/protruding rocks

    Maintain dumping areas to set standards:

    • Dress the dumping area with fines as required
    • Ensure that the dumping areas are well maintained by dozing
    • Ensure that there are no spillages in the dump area
    • Ensure area is adequately lit during darkness
    • Ensure that haul trucks are tipping according to procedure
    • Build safety berms 1.5m high
    • Build ramps to the grade required
    • Monitor condition of dump areas and respond appropriately to deviations

    Support maintenance of operating equipment to set standards:

    • Conduct daily inspections of equipment prior to usage
    • Report any defects or deviations observed/to the dispatch operators
    • Assist in maintaining prescribed lubricant, cooling and battery water levels
    • Clean the operator cab at the end of the shift.

    Safety, Health and Environment:

    • Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities
    • Identify specific risks within area and adhere to discipline – specific plans/systems to avoid these risks.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualifications
    • Valid driver’s license code 8

    Experience;

    • One year’s Track Dozer operation experience
    • Open Pit experience is essential
    • Competent in relevant unit standards/supplier certificate
