    Senior Business Analyst (Re-Advert) (Central Office Hatfield)

    Description

    • Oversees business simulations, information analysis and modelling.
    • Oversees the overall design, development, implementation, integration, and testing of the Information.
    • Management System capabilities (i.e., ERP, Business Analytics / Power BI, etc.).
    • Responsible for all modelling processes (processes and data).
    • Provides for guidance and control to ensure data integrity and quality, including consistency with business policies and procedures.
    • Provides for identifying shared data, fixing acceptable meanings to these data, and assuring consistent interpretation throughout the enterprise.
    • Responsible for analysis and effective translation of user requirements into a User Requirements Specification.

    Researcher Veterinarian: Diagnostic Services (Re-Advert) (Onderstepoort)

    Description

    • The incumbent will be involved in research activities on various veterinary diseases of economical importance.
    • Coordinate, plan and conduct veterinary activities required on research projects involving diseases of veterinary importance.
    • Perform clinical duties on animals kept for research purposes.
    • Participate in and authorise diagnostic activities including routine laboratory testing, Proficiency Testing Schemes and National Surveillance Programmes.
    • Participate in the planning and implementation of research projects, including performing animal care duties, giving input into animal ethics applications, and DALRRD Section 20 applications.
    • Compiling detailed reports relating to animal care and comprehensive recommendations for animal care.
    • Manage/supervise animal attendants, Para veterinary staff, CCS veterinarian and SAVC authorised personnel as the need arises.
    • Render expert clinical and diagnostic advice on research projects.
    • Liaise with clients as and when needed including giving expert advice on diagnostic aspects of various veterinary diseases.
    • Collaborate with research and diagnostic staff to publish research in appropriate journals (non-peer-reviewed popular articles, semi scientific and peer-reviewed papers (in journals with high impact factor), and presentation at relevant national and/or international scientific conferences.
    • Train and transfer knowledge to animal attendants, students, field veterinary officials and farmers.
    • Continually update knowledge and develop skills and translate knowledge of advances in the area into research activity.
    • Participate in Programme and Institute-related administrative and other duties as requested by the line manager.
    • Ensure compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    • BVSc/BVMCh/BVM (Veterinary degree), with at least one (1) year of practical experience.
    • Must be SAVC registered.
    • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Be willing to work on a weekend rotational basis to perform veterinary duties for all animals housed at ARC-OVR.
    • Experience in laboratory diagnostics, molecular biology or statistics will be an added advantage.

    Description

    • Undertakes original research that includes developing and confirming highly sensitive, reliable assay methodologies for the rapid and accurate analysis of mycotoxins in milk and milk products.
    • Responsible for conducting analytical method development, validation and sample analysis using UHPLC-MS/MS for quantitative analysis of mycotoxins in milk and milk products.
    • Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements in analytical and mass spectrometry studies and accepts leadership role in developing scientific approaches.
    • Prepares SOPs and other documents such as validation protocols, validation reports, and data reports for testing results
    • Share responsibility for lab management duties and performs other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Honours in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field.
    • Demonstrated capacity to conduct research at postgraduate level.
    • 1 or more years’ experience using analytical techniques, with proven hands-on experience with liquid chromatography with tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
    • experience in analytical method development, validation, analysis, and sample preparation (such as milk, cheese, yogurt).
    • The ideal candidate will also have experience in gas chromatography (GC), food sample analysis, and ELISA assays.
