    Field Production Manager

    • Production planning

    • Cultivation management includes, fertilizing, weed, insect, irrigation control.
    • Coordination with seed growers to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant.
    • Lead ESH efforts, provide assistance and arrange for resources to promote safety in field operations.
    • Maintain operational records as required by the QMS management systems.
    • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001.
    • Record field data in FIDO application to manage productions effectively.

    Sales Representative (Vegetables)

    It entails meeting business goals and working to achieve long term growth of Seminis and DeRuiter products in vegetable farming segments in South Africa by being a key member of the sales team that will drive the growth of Monsanto’s business in South Africa.

    Specific role responsibility

    • Provide agronomic support & advice to the customers, distribution reps and prospect clients.
    • Follow up on growers and plant raisers (visits, calls) and trials
    • Prepare the plan visits in line with the Operational plan
    • Strategically plan activities to generate demand for Seminis and DeRuiter products. Research and understand the needs of the customer, plan sales activities to increase sales and market share.
    • Support and feedback to sales manager as well as to technical development in sales area.
    • Uses competitive/marketing insights to challenge the customer using different available tools/materials.
    • Closes sales/obtain the buying commitment from the grower.
    • Building the Seminis and DeRuiter brands in sales area.
    • Account planning through use of salesforce.com
    • Coach and support farmers and distribution reps on product management to ensure they succeed.
    • Provide after-the-sale customer service that increases customer loyalty.
    • Plan and deliver presentations to customers and potential customers that help increase sales in the sales area.
    • Allocates and utilizes available resources to maximize return on short-term and long-term strategic plan for sales area.
    • Actively contributes to analyze local market needs and suggest changes or improvements to distribution strategy and farmer segmentation.
    • Maintain and develop relationship with the customer’s full accountabilities of timeous payments of key accounts.
    • Contribute, implement and follow-up as per Monsanto’s guidance and compliance (Business conduct, FCPA, Pledge, ESH Policy)
    • Provide Monsanto with the necessary market intelligence required for commercial success.
    • Setting PCM4 and demo trials / follow up trial execution at grower level to create product awareness that best fit customer needs.
    • Populate/Maintain customer data base in Salesforce.com
    • Provides demand forecast visibility in IBP
    • Attending necessary business demands in terms of meetings and calls (IBP, S&OP, OFA, FC, Inventory, Budget)
       

    Job Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field
    • A master’s degree will be an added advantage
    • Work Experience: 5+ years’ sales/account management experience, with at least 3 years in the agricultural industry.

    Testing Operations Manager Lichtenburg


    The Testing Operations Manager (TOM) is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the corn yield testing program, including the planning, planting and harvesting of all yield trials. The incumbent will be responsible for;

    • Responsible for a team of Research Assistance conducting Testing Operations in the North West, Free State and the Northern Cape.
    • Maintaining excellent working relationships with our trial cooperators (farmers) and manage all contracts with these farmers.
    • Ensuring that staff of the Testing team are trained in all ESH procedures, regulatory and compliance protocols and business conduct protocols.
    • Oversee a yield testing program which deliver quality data that will lead to the development of improved inbred lines and the advancement of superior hybrids and traits.
    • Administer a yield testing program including the recruiting, training, development and retention of personnel as well as budget management.
    • Managing of Rietgat Testing Station and maintaining adequate facilities and equipment for effective and efficient functioning of the Testing team.
    • Ensure that Rietgat Testing Station maintain Safety certification
       

    Job Qualifications

    Required Education, Experience and Skills

    • B.Sc. in an agricultural field / equivalent agriculture qualification and 3+ years of significant people and project management in an agricultural-related position.
    • Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices
    • Experience with farm equipment operation and repair and be prepared to plant and harvest their share of the yield testing locations.
    • Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices.
    • Exhibit team leadership skills including excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
    • Highly agile and can motivate team to meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to write and speak English fluently and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Good time management and willing to do both field and office work.
    • Valid driver’s license is mandatory and willingness to travel extensively to the yield trials across the region and spend time away from home during peak seasons
       

    Desired Education/Experience

    • MS in Plant Breeding, Agronomy or related field of study with 3+ years of significant people and project management experience in an agricultural-related research position.
    • Good working knowledge of statistics and experimental design
    • Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization and data analysis.
