    Manager: Wellington Campus Stakeholder and Communication - (6769)

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Executive Director in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the Wellington Campus Stakeholder and Communication Manager is the most senior office bearer and Institutional representative of the CPUT on the Wellington Campus. The incumbent is, on behalf of Executive Management and as per the delegated powers of authority, responsible for co-ordinating the operating functions, campus programs, and campus outsourced services such as contractors according to the policy and procedures. The Manager is further responsible for managing any service level agreements that may be entered into by the various stakeholders of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology with the Wellington Campus.

    Additional responsibilities of the role include to:

    • Represent and act as ambassador of CPUT at Wellington and foster strategic relations between the Wellington Community and CPUT faculties and departments housed at the Wellington Campus.

    Plan, co-ordinate and control all administrative activities that relate to the execution of key tasks such as:

    Budgeting;

    • Procurement;
    • Management of facilities; and
    • Provision of Operations, Student Support, Human Capital and Communications services.
    • Host and ensure that the necessary logistics for all visitors to the Campus are arranged and executed

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • A Master’s Degree in Education, Business Management, or Social Science.
    • A PhD will be an advantage
    • 10 years working as a Manager responsible for managing more than two operations including facilities management.
    • At least 2 of these years must have been served in the higher education environment.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    • Support and represent the Office of the Vice-Chancellor at Wellington Campus and surrounds

    Strategic and Operational Management

    • Determines the coordination strategy by means of the different support functions at Wellington campus in terms of the contribution of each to the realisation of the University and campus objectives.
    • Collaborates in respect of providing input for University and campus strategic objectives.
    • Manages the resources of the Campus under his/her control in such a manner that the strategic objectives of the University as well as those of the campus are achieved.
    • Provides effective support to identified stakeholder groupings, in line with CPUT and Wellington Campus Strategy and Operational Plan.

    Stakeholder Relationship management and partnerships

    • Establish, facilitate and manage the Institution’s relationships and communication between various CPUT departments at Wellington and entities as defined by Strategy and Operational Plan
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key Wellington community stakeholders
    • Proactively seeks partnerships with potential to enhance university vision and mission statement.
    • Ensure relevant role players participate in partnerships’ programmes.
    • Serve as a primary communication link between the Campus and the community/service area to ensure that goals and priorities of CPUT and the Wellington Campus reflect the needs of the community and comply with the mission, vision, values, goals, and strategic direction of CPUT

    Campus promotion

    • Work with MCD on the branding of the Wellington Campus and to enhance its visibility in the media
    • Promotes workshops and short learning programmes as planned with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and implied Senior Management Members to target audiences which could lead to third stream income generation for the Wellington Campus

    Space and facility management

    • Serves as campus liaison “officer” between CPUT’s Directorate for Property and Security Services (e.g., grounds and maintenance, food service, public safety etc.) and contribute towards effective campus operations.
    • Facilitates the development of campus emergency procedures; responds to building and campus emergencies and contacts an appropriate manager for immediate follow up regarding incidents; and ensures proper documentation and reporting procedures are met
    • Assists with aspects of room/space allocation in consultation with relevant offices at the Wellington Campus including facilities scheduling for classes and special events and meetings

    Reporting

    • Prepares written reports to the Office of the VC/EM and other documents where necessary

    Lecturer (Extended Curriculum Program) Fixed 5-year contract - (6771)

    Job Purpose

    • To contribute to curriculum development and to teach various subject areas in Marketing in the Extended Curriculum Programme.     Educational requirements:

    Professor/ Associate Professor: Transdisciplinary Studies - (6743)

    Job Purpose

    • The appointed person will be responsible for curriculum development, supervision of postgraduate students, lecturing and involvement in research in Information Technology, Multimedia Studies, and promote multidisciplinary engagements between the IT Department and the Media Department at CPUT.  The responsibilities may also include providing academic leadership in specific areas of Information Technology, Multimedia Studies, administration and management of subject tuition and management of staff members assigned to the departments/ Research Projects. The appointed person will also support faculty research initiatives by undertaking research that contributes to the faculty’s strategic objectives. 
    • The appointed person will also be responsible for raising the standard of scholarship and research in the Department of Information Technology, and the Media Department of CPUT by initiating relevant research projects, providing mentorship for junior staff members, and supervising postgraduate students up to the doctoral level. In addition, the incumbent will still perform all the functions of academics, including teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising students, community engagement, curriculum development, academic administration, and conducting research.

    Professor/Associate Professor (permanent) & Head of Department rotational contract: Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (5-year contract)Re-advertisement - (6685)

    Job Purpose
    Head of Department (HOD)

    • The successful candidate will be appointed permanently in the Department as a Professor or Associate Professor and will be appointed as a rotational HOD in line with the rotational HOD guideline for a 5-year period and at the expiry of the 5-years rotational HOD appointment the incumbent will revert back to the level at which the appointment was made on a permanent basis – Professor/Associate Professorial level whichever level is relevant.
    • HOD responsibility: The person should be eligible to be appointed as the rotating HOD and manage the department effectively and efficiently in line with the CPUT policies and procedures specifically but not limited to (i) academic project management; (ii) research management; (iii) HR and staff management; (iv) financial management; and (v) student management.

    Associate Professor

    • A doctoral qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field. All underpinning qualifications must be in the Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering field.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ qualification relevant Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics teaching and research experience in higher education.

    Job Purpose

    • The Faculty of Business and Management Sciences seeks to appoint a Information Technology (IT) Co-ordinator for a period of three (3) years on a portfolio basis in which the incumbent will retain 50% of their current academic workload and take additional responsibilities for the Faculty IT Co-ordinator role. The purpose of the post is to coordinate the information technology needs across the faculty. The incumbent will be required to manage the strategy and operational requirements related to information technology in support of teaching, learning and administrative activities across the faculty. The IT Co-ordinator will report on information technology issues and implementation in the faculty and liaise with relevant Senate committee and CTS.
