ROLE PURPOSE

• Develop, maintain and support a portfolio of software applications and services to ensure improved business efficiencies and that are aligned to the enterprise architecture and business strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK OUTPUTS

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct analysis and prioritise requests.
• Translate business requirements into workable solutions and document solution into technical specifications.
• Design and code new software functionality using codes that is readable, maintainable and re-usable.
• Provide client with regular feedback on the technical design and timelines for solution.
• Collaborate with business analysts and testing team in developing, testing and deploying new software system components or software system enhancements.
• Collaborate with testing team to co-create test cases.
• Conduct System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and resolve all issues/queries.
• Contribute to user acceptance testing (UAT) and training material.
• Once the solution has been successfully tested, transport the solution into production/live environment.
• Maintain existing programmes according to change requests
• Monitor performance of solutions and make recommendations to improve the performance and functionality of the solution.
• Log issues found in existing systems as internal change controls and ensure successful resolution of issues.
• Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders
• Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed
• Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• IT Degree
• 3-5 Years development experience within a SQL data lake and warehouse environment within the Financial Sector
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Methodologies

• The candidate must have clear understanding of Agile methodologies
• The candidate must be familiar with Waterfall methodology
• The candidate must be able to demonstrate hybrid integration of both Agile and Waterfall when required
• The candidate must have ability to elicit data requirements from stakeholders
• The candidate must have clear documentation and communication skills

Principles

• The candidate must be familiar with Software development principles such as SOLID, TDD , Separation of Concerns, Loose Coupling
• The candidate must be familiar with design patterns in data development industry.
• The candidate must have solid understanding of Metadata and MDM[1] system. Architecture
• The candidate must have clear understanding of EDW[2]
• The candidate must be fully acquainted with n-tier layered architecture (5+ years)
• Knowledge of Domain driven design would be an advantage
• Knowledge of repository pattern would be an advantage
• The candidate must be familiar with the concept of Data Marts
• The candidate must be familiar with abstraction techniques

Modelling

• Knowledge of IBM Insurance Information Warehouse (IIW) or IAA would add an advantage
• The candidate must have proven data modelling techniques (5+ years)
• The candidate must have knowledge and experience in Ralph Kimball data warehouse modelling (5+ years)
• Knowledge of Immon data warehouse modelling techniques would add an advantage
• The candidate must have data normalization skills most especially the 2nd Normal form (5+ years)

Data Transportation

• The candidate must have solid experience in data transportation techniques
• The candidate must have solid experience of ETL[3] systems
• The candidate must have solid experience of sourcing, staging and loading
• The candidate must be familiar with parallel loading principles
• The candidate must be familiar with source to target mapping

Development Software

• The candidate must have practical knowledge of T-SQL 2005 to 2016 (5+ years)
• The candidate must have practical experience of SQL Server Database Engine (5+ years)
• The candidate must have practical experience of MS SSIS ETL software (5+ years)
• Knowledge of MS SSAS OLAP software would add an advantage
• The candidate must have practical experience of MS Visual Studio Data Tools (5+ years)
• Knowledge of Database Administration would add an advantage

Governance and Framework

• The candidate must have Clear understanding and application of DAMA[4] framework.
• The candidate must have the ability to draft new data governance policies in accordance with TOGAF[5]or other frameworks **
• The candidate must be familiar with ZACHMAN framework **
• Knowledge of POPIA[6] requirements would add greater value.

Hardware

• Disk Space capacity
• Memory Allocations
• Bandwidth estimation
• IO allocation

Hosting

• The candidate must have experience in defining a hosting environment.

Repository type

• The candidate must be able to source data from different repositories
• The candidate must be fully acquainted with Microsoft SQL Server repository
• Knowledge of NoSQL would be an advantage
• Knowledge of Data Lake would be an advantage
• Knowledge of Oracle, Sybase, IBM DB2 would be an advantage

WHAT'S THIS ROLE ABOUT

The Business Consultant (BC) will provide guidance and support to equip IFAs to meet and service their clients' needs and facilitate the relationship between Momentum and IFAs. Responsible for New Business Sales and Marketing of all Momentum products in relation to the full financial wellness wheel.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

• NQF Level 7 Degree in Commerce, Finance, or Marketing (preferred)
• Regulatory Examination Level 1 and Level 5 Certification (essential)
• Certificate in Financial Planning (advantageous)

Experience:

• 5-8 years financial service industry experience with 3 - 5 years of experience in sales.
• Sound knowledge of Momentum Distribution Services products is advantagous
