    Finance Executive

    About the Job

    Guide Segment leadership through the provision of sound financial stewardship working within financial control framework and mitigating identified financial risk. Translate the annual segment strategic plans into financial plans. Provide executive insight and analysis through commentary on financial performance and assist in taking necessary corrective actions towards achieving financial results. Facilitation of, and the preparation of Segment operational budgets and reporting on business performance.

    Work closely with the Group CFO to drive the Group finance vision and strategy:

    • Translate Segment strategy into financial plans and reports.
    • Monitoring of Segment financial performance, financial control, financial risk management and compliance.
    • Guide the development of strategic financial initiatives to maximize performance.
    • Guide the preparation of financial information to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee.
    • Oversee the Budgeting & Planning processes and procedures: This includes translating the annual business strategic plans into financial plans, calendars and timelines and developing relevant supporting processes and reports. The role holder is also accountable to ensure effective communication to Group.
    • Ensure compliance with Group financial policies and frameworks.
    • Instill sound financial discipline within the Segment.
    • Quality Assure Segment financial data, reports and analysis as input to Segment leadership discussions.
    • Guide and Oversee analysis at segment level: Review the budget variances and forecasts to identify trends, risk areas and provide support for business decisions.
    • Accountable for delivery of segment financial information.
    • Collaborate with senior management to formulate short and long-term strategic financial objectives and operating strategies for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the segment, as well as the overall financial strategy of the Group.
    • Advice on the overall segment performance against strategic objectives and financial targets.
    • Work closely with centres of excellence i.e. group tax and procurement.

    Qualification & Job Experience

    • Masters degree in Accounting, CA (SA), CIMA qualification or NQF equivalent.
    • 5+ years’ post qualification experience in finance.
    • Very good understanding of Accounting processes.
    • At least 3 years experience in a senior management role.

    Interpersonal skills & Competencies

    • Strong knowledge of JSE requirements is an advantage.

    SQL Database Administrator

    About the Job
    As Senior SQL and BI Specialist, you will have a great understanding of big data, business intelligence, and enterprise and cloud technologies. A senior/expert level in MS SQL with a strong understanding of the ETL environment, you are able to build reliable solutions that are fit for purpose, perform well with large data volume and complex insights, and follow analytical data transformation rules. You will work within the Engineering team as a Service Owner for Enterprise Data and BI systems to ensure

    Knowledge and Experience required for success in role:

    Knowledge / Qualifications / Experience:

    • Degree qualified – Information Systems / Computer Science. Masters preferred.
    • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role. Prefer background in Database Administration and/or Data Management.
    • Accomplished analyst with a specialisation in enterprise data management, ETL, Analytics, Reporting and SQL Development.
    • 10+ years’ experience in Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI), cloud technologies and big data frameworks (desirable).
    • Strong background in both BAU and Project based work
    • Exposure to DevOps

    First 3 months:

    • Develop a solid understanding of the environments, technology, and operating processes
    • Work with existing Business Intelligence teams to understand their business requirements and pain points
    • Review data architecture, quality processes, system roadmaps, tech debt, and project backlogs. Identify areas for improvement in solution architectures, procedures, and documentation and feed this into continuous improvement processes.
    • Assist in the interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding of new developers to grow the EDM team
    • Help evaluate the impact to production systems of changes and enhancements from the Change Control Board and Project teams
    • Improve and streamline release management – either between production and near-production systems, or production to non-production systems (including data obfuscation)

    Essential:

    • Strategic mindset – able to formulate and execute digital and data strategies
    • Excellent understanding of data technologies and data quality processes
    • Architecting and developing high-availability, mission critical distributed systems
    • Strong, confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical / non-technical people from all levels of the organisation and present to small audiences; in particular, strong customer-facing experience
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment & meet agreed deadlines
    • Knowledge and experience in building and managing cloud solutions in AWS and/or Azure using big-data technologies
    • Responsible for data flows between production, warehousing, and reporting systems
    • Good understanding of enterprise data integration and best practices such as ESB and ETL
    • Team management, including the ability to critically evaluate a team’s work

    Desirable:

    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV
    • Agile delivery (Scrum or variation) using tools such as JIRA
    • Familiar with Web Analytics (especially GTM)
    • Familiar with establishing software development standards and practices
    • CI/CD, TDD, automation test suites
    • Working with blended onshore/offshore delivery teams
    • Previous experience in fintech and/or Insurance industry
