    Data Analyst (Contract until September 2021)

    Job Advert Summary    

    • The Data Analyst reports to the HISS Program Manager and supports National and Provincial Departments of Health on the 90-90-90 program for HIV and TB data management and analytics. The Data Analyst will work with large and complex data sets, analysing data elements and health indicators, cleaning data, and optimizing ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes.

    Minimum Requirements    

    •  Minimum of a Masters (MSc) in mathematics, economics, epidemiology, information management or statistics, or Bachelor’s degree
    • with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
    •  Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant work experience
    •  A proven track record of working with data, data analysis, and data management in healthcare
    •  Working knowledge of DOH reporting indicators and platforms
    •  Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Power BI, Tableau, SQL server reporting services), databases (SQL,
    • etc.), programming (Structured Query Language (SQL), XML, JavaScript, Python, ETL frameworks) and APIs (Application Programming
    • Interfaces)

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    •  Build models to analyse DOH 90-90-90 performance
    •  Work with management to prioritize DOH health information and analytic needs
    •  Analyse health data to inform decision making
    •  Develop interactive dashboards according to stakeholder requirements
    •  Identify, analyse, and interpret trends and patterns embedded within datasets using statistical techniques, with an aim to increase
    • health service efficiency
    •  Maintain and monitor databases from primary or secondary data sources
    •  Support the development and maintenance of a data warehouse

    Recency Testing Data Capturer

    • The purpose of the position is to capture incoming data on clients rendered services from outreach teams. The Data Capturer will store and maintain captured data and do regular backups. The Data Capturer will also follow up with HAST Counsellors to make sure consent forms are accurately filled in, completed and turned in on time. The Data Capturer will file hard and electronic copies of data submitted

    Minimum Requirements    

    •  Matric / grade 12
    •  2 years’ experience with TIER.Net software, capturing and reporting
    •  Experience with reporting on TB, HIV, PEPFAR indicators and/or DOH statistics
    •  Computer literacy (Intermediate level in MS Office package)
    •  Fluency in English and other South African languages
    •  Clear criminal record

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    •  Captures data daily
    •  Handles all data related communication
    •  Maintains excellent records of HIV testing services (HTS data), electronically on TIER.net
    •  Maintains a filing system on all important data documentation
    •  Attends all relevant data meetings
    •  Support outreach team on data collection and trainings.
    •  Maintains excellent communication with HAST Counsellors and reports all screening conducted by HAST Counsellors
    •  Ensures that all TB and HIV information (cascades) is collated and verified from the clinical records and captured on TIER.net
    •  Provides accurate and timeous monthly reports to M&E Coordinator/Data Monitor
    •  Ensures that all HIV consent forms are validated according to data validation standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocol
    •  Ensures that the use of ART M&E SOP is maintained at all times when capturing data on TIER.net
    •  Liaises with HAST Counsellors, Professional Nurse, Enrolled Nurse or Data Monitor to rectify validation errors and data discrepancies
