    Officer Collection Inbound and Outbound (Everyday Banking) - JHB

    Job Summary

    • To manage customer debt through effective and efficient collections tactics in order to minimize the loss to Absa. This will involve negotiating repayment from customers with the objective of rehabilitating customer accounts, before they deteriorate further into delinquency.

    Job Description

    The success of everyone at Absa is measured by our ability to put our customers at the center of everything we do. To achieve this you will need the following:

    • Agree collections targets on a monthly basis with the Team Leader in line with portfolio and product targets as communicated by Customer Value Management.
    • Meet the minimum productivity requirements for calls on a daily basis to ensure optimization of the collections function and achievement of the monthly collection target.
    •  Manage customer accounts and calls by logging on to and updating the relevant collections systems including Megallon and Avaya.
    •  Use the appropriate collections scripts and other tools available to verify clients identity and negotiate with customers to obtain a promise to pay (PTP) or to negotiate the repayment terms which will achieve the best outcome for both the Bank and the customer.
    •  For more complex accounts, analyze customers' account history and provide the customer with a recommendation on the appropriate options available (e.g. account restructures in the case of arrears amounts on multiple products and/or refer the customer for debt review/counselling) to rehabilitate their account.
    • These recommendations need to be aligned to the requirements as outlined in the Restructuring and/or Re-Age Policy.
    •  If no solution can be negotiated, calls must be escalated to the Team Leader for assistance.   Update the OCS system upon completion of the negotiation with the customer to indicate the agreement reached. with the customer in terms of the collections option that will be implemented
    • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Absa Bank Credit Risk Model etc.
    •  Fulfil the requirements of and comply to all relevant Acts and Statutory requirements e.g. the National Credit Act.
    • Identify fraudulent accounts and escalate these concerns to the Team Leader
    •  Adhere to internal systems access control policies at all times and report any irregularities to the Team Leader or relevant party.

    • Complete all compulsory training within the required timeframe.

    Analyst Credit Commercial

    Job Summary

    • To provide advice and support in banking analytics practice formulation and associated best practice improvement tactics; enabling the provision of specialist expertise.

    Job Description

    • The main purpose of the role is to conduct an in-depth, specialised and quality credit assessment and risk analysis on potential and existing Growth portfolio, to enhance the decision making process involved in determining the Bank's appetite to extend credit to these clients. Financial analysis, interpretation and capturing of client information (company financial statements) and qualitative data.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Risk Management

    • Monitor client’s performance on a continuous basis for risk indicators and perform formal reviews at specified time intervals to identify any changes in the client's business or operating environment.
    • Monitor adherence of covenants and conditions on a continuous basis and discuss any deviations and possible concerns with Sales team and escalate to Line Management and Credit if necessary.
    • Create and maintain a detailed due diligence record of the client portfolio's, detailing what facilities they have, so that information is readily available for reporting purposes.
    • Adhere to ARMS credit requirements as stipulated in the Absa credit policy
    • Monitor and report boundary events in terms of the Operational Risk Boundary.
    • Obtain input from Product Industry Specialist, where appropriate to assist in client solutioning and credit application process.
    • Identify the need for a meeting between high risk clients, Credit and Business Support.
    • Request updated valuations on properties which serve as security for facilities in line with Absa Credit policies.
    • Manage and communicate the risks associated with outstanding securities.
    • Pro-actively identify problematic /high risk clients and advise Credit accordingly, manage them with a view to provide special input and implement loss preventative measures i.e. EWL Reports and DI500.
    • Request and manage outstanding Financial Statements as stipulated in the Absa Credit policy.
    • Action and manage daily Odex, Referrals, REPL and REPC. Contact clients that are on the referral listing for rectification.

    Credit Management

    • Explore new, improved and alternative ways of solutioning client credit requirements.
    • Adhere to Bank’s credit policies and procedures and ensure that they are fully complied with and that any policy breaches have been suitably addressed and mitigated.
    • Adhere to Absa Credit Policy when clearing cheques on client's accounts as requested.
    • Provide bank codes and reports on clients, to other financial institutions.
    • Pro-actively manage credit risks associated with the portfolio of clients and their related products.
    • Manage and drive the deal forum process to ensure quality applications are submitted to the sanctioners with sustainable credit solutions.

    Portfolio Financial and Operational Management

    • In the event of a client visitation prepare a focused call report
    • Compile reviews, amendments and new applications to the appropriate lending authorities.
    • Issue facility letters to clients after reviews have been compiled and new facilities granted.
    • Draft and issue letters of reminder when facilities expire according to policy requirements, for example 30, 60 and 90 day letters.
    • Maintain thorough, accurate and up to date credit files, which include a set of financials, valuations, credit decisions and all client related communication.
    • Contribute to the Non-Interest Income by ensuring recovery of manual fees (e.g. Reviews, Excesses, late submissions of debtors, valuations) to avoid revenue leakages.
    • Spread client's financials on the various Credit Risk Grading models i.e. Agri Model, Public Sector Model, Risk Calc Model and Triad.
    • Provide the Default Grading (DG) output from the Credit Risk models within 24 hours of receiving the request.
    • Capture all information on the various risk grading models 100% accurately by checking that all the models balance.
    • Respond to queries relating to the DG output by explaining the process followed and the model used to generate the DG output. Escalate all technical queries relating to the various risk grading models to the relevant system owners.
    • Communicate incorrect and insufficient financial information received to relevant parties to ensure that the spreading is expedited within time frames.
    • Ascertain that all models balance and all unexplained adjustments are escalated to management for checking.

    Client Solutioning and Customer Service

    • Identify cross sell opportunities from analysis of Client's financials, account conduct and industry change and pass on to Transactional Banker as a lead.
    • Act as a contact for the credit related queries and resolve them timeously to ensure exceptional customer service.
    • Be part of the solution by attending sales best practice sessions with relevant stakeholders, give credit input to mitigate risk on the identified product offering or new acquisition, and monitor progress on the sales funnel, until the lead is converted into a deal.
    • Conduct research on the industry in which the portfolio clients operate, to understand the industries overall profitability, industry trends and clients market standing relative to their competitors.

    An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Chartered Secretary with sound knowledge of corporate and investment banking (CIB), to join our group secretariat team in providing support to the portfolio. Complying with the provisions of the Companies Act and all the applicable regulatory requirements and best practices in the CIB sector.
    The post holder will provide strategic, governance and compliance guidance to the Boards and implement robust processes to guide the Boards in setting the strategy and effective decision-making.

    The key responsibility of the role is to act as the company secretary for all of the CIB entities. The CIB portfolio consists of 10 active entities, of which, 8 are regulated (JSE and FSCA). It also includes 18 entities that are passively trading, for which secretarial services are also required on a semi-annual or annual basis. The role also has an oversight role for the CIB Nigeria operations i.e. attend the quarterly board meetings, assist with the meeting packs and provide governance support/guidance where required.

    Job Description

    Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Advise Directors on the proper application of KING IV requirements and on other Corporate Governance

    • Coordinate Board succession planning by ensuring that Board Succession Planning is discussed annually

    • Act as the Secretary to the Boards in the portfolio and the various board committee

    • Ensure that the Legal Entities and Directors Policy and Group Governance Framework are applied to all entities within the assigned portfolio

    • Coordinate the preparation of the annual meeting schedules

    • Act as a trusted advisor on insurance related matters and provide guidance to the boards on relevant regulatory matters

    • Work closely with compliance to ensure the boards proactively and effectively comply with all relevant legislation and best practices

    • In cases of resignations, ensure that the statutory team receives the letter of resignation from the particular Director and all supporting documents required to make the changes at the CIPC

    • Ensure that the incoming Director completes the necessary forms (which is the Consent to Act as a Director) and the CoR39 form (which is the Register of Directors and Officers)

    • Upon the exit or appointments of new directors, update the information on all company documents and advise the requisite authorities, regulators including but not limited to Prudential Authority, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, CIPC, etc.

    • Coach and mentor team members when requested to do so by the line manager in order to improve their own productivity and use of the bank’s processes and systems. Coach team members on technical matters when necessary

    • Support the line manager to supervise team members to ensure effective daily operations that contribute to the effective functioning of the team, alternatively contribute to the broader team

     

    Education and Experience:
