    Engineering Supervisor - Witbank

    Purpose

    The incumbent in this role will be responsible for ensuring that production targets are met in accordance with all relevant standards, policies and procedures in areas of responsibility, through optimal utilization of people and equipment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervising and managing maintenance, breakdowns and repairs on machines and equipment.
    • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Ensuring that production targets are met safely and cost effectively. 

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Either a N4 Certificate with Engineering Subjects, Valid Trade Certificate (Electrician) and a minimum of 5 Years’ experience as an Artisan; OR
    • A relevant Tertiary Qualification and completed Graduate Development Programme.
    • Driver’s license Code EB (08).

    Production Supervisor - Witbank

    Purpose

    • Creating an understanding of daily and weekly production targets amongst team members to make sure targets are achieved and executed safely.
    • Reviewing shift performance on an ongoing basis and discussing progress against agreed deliverables, deadlines and provides support required by team members.
    • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities to use people, equipment, processes and reports in the daily meetings for consideration in the planning effort.
    • Creating an understanding of company policy and procedures, including legislative requirements among team members and ensures compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Either a Grade 12 and an Opencast Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines; OR
    • A relevant degree and an Opencast Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines.
    • 2 different types of Opencast Machine Licenses.
    • Driver’s License (Code EB/08).

    Minimum Experience

    • 2 Years’ experience as a Digger/Dragline Operator or Blaster or completed Graduate Development Programme.

    Officer (HSEC) FTC - Steelpoort

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12
    • COMSOC 1&2
    • SAMTRAC 

    SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

    • Three years relevant experience in a heavy industry environment.
    • Previous experience in process or engineering will be advantageous
    • Good working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act 
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
    • Proof of successful implementation and Maintenance of HSE and behavior-based safety activities programs 
    • HSE System Knowledge
    • Auditing ability and process in a safety program
    • Ability to work with data and information. 
    • Administration skills
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Proven Incident investigation experience.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    The incumbent will be responsible to the Superintendent (HSEC): 

    • Maintain a visible presence withing the working environment to check for unsafe conditions and correct unsafe behaviour within the plant
    • Conduct daily inspections safety inspection at respective departments and report on deviations observed
    • Identify any threat or potential threat to the safety or health of employees and business partners
    • Ensure all reasonable safety and health measures have been taken in respect of the use or handling of machinery and performance of other work
    • Ensure safety equipment is maintained in good condition and properly utilized
    • To stop and correct unsafe behaviour and conditions through counseling and coaching
    • Participate in incident investigations with the relevant departments. Plan, schedule, conduct, evaluate and suggest remedial actions based on findings
    • Ensure and enforce adherence to the OHS Act and other applicable legal requirements
    • Identify and coordinate campaigns based on trend analysis that will improve safety performance of the plant
    • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure legal and system compliance
    • Follow up on audit findings and corrective / preventative actions implemented
    • Ensure that incidents are logged on ISOMETRIX and investigation outcomes are captured correctly and within the required timeframes
    • Lead as a Safework Champion in the plant with particular focus on the Safework Operational Tools
    • Attend relevant meetings to ensure that any HSEC related issues are identified and addressed
    • Quality reports and meeting target deadlines
    • Coordinating and conducting HSE Training
    • Performing Standby duties
