    Apprenticeship Wheat Miller

    What you will be doing?

    A career opportunity has arisen in the Production Department – Premier Wheat Mill – Durban.

    What you will be doing?

    • Complete theoretical courses through SAGMA whilst performing practical work in a milling environment.
    • Work in designated areas as per your learning modules to gain practical experience and convert theoretical learning into practical understanding.
    • Learn all key competencies of each department for a full understanding of the milling supply chain.
    • Under the guidance of the Production Manager/Head Miller, be able to operate a mill at designated capacity with optimum extractions and produce finished products fit for human consumption.

    The apprenticeship will be a 3-year programme consisting  of theoretical self-learning and practical application training (working shifts, weekend and public holidays).

    Qualification Requirements    

    • Grade 12 (not older than 24 months):
    • Mathematics (not Maths Literacy): 60% and above
    • Physical Science: 60% and above.

    Experience Requirements    

    No experience needed, the  following skills and compentencies are required:

    • Curious mindset with good problem-solving (reasoning) skills.
    • Ability to operate in a pressurized environment.
    • Ability to function in a team and work under minimal supervision.
    • Enjoy working with mechanical systems / technically inclined.
    • Process orientation & process improvement mindset.

    Key Outputs    

    • Pass each SAGMA module at the pass rate prescribed by management.
    • Have good knowledge of the relevant department/area in the milling supply chain & able to perform required key tasks after the completion of each module.
    • Perform any other tasks required by the Production Manager/Head Miller

    Clerk Transfer

    Job Description    

    The purpose of the Bread Transfer Controller is to ensure that the crates with bread are transferred from Production to Distribution, according to quality and quantity requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure crates are stacked with bread from slicing
    • Follow strict rules of SOP regarding transfers of bread
    • Check and ensure correct dating of all SKUs
    • Attend daily Invocoms and meetings
    • Ensure that quality bread is packed correctly on trays
    • Ensure compliance with company policy and procedures

    Qualification Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with numerical ability and PC Literacy – Essential

    Experience Requirements    

    • At least 1-2 years’ bakery industry experience in a similar position

    Other Requirements

    • Pressurized environment.
    • Must be able to work shifts.
    • Required to work Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
    • Overtime expected from time to time.

    Controller Fleet

    Qualification Requirements    

    • Grade 12 / Matric with Maths.

    Experience Requirements    

    • 2 years in a transport industry.
    • At least 1 year experience in driver management.
    • Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures.

    Key Outputs

    • Monitor fuel consumptions and investigate irregularities.
    • Monitor and update the service schedule to ensure trucks are not overrun and serviced according to the prescribed intervals.

    Transport Controller - Bloemfontein

    Purpose

    To manage team of employees responsible to ensure the roadworthiness and cleanliness of bakery trucks and that they are ready on time for it to be loaded in time for deliveries to leave as per agreed schedules.

    Main Objectives

    • Ensure legal compliance and support OTIF deliveries by ensuring appropriate number of clean and roadworthy trucks per route according to the hygiene (FSSC 22000), AARTO SOP’s and RACI matrix requirements for the same.
    • To ensure cost effective bakery deliveries through detailed fleet related expense tracking and monitoring, ensuring timely action of gaps identified in order to minimise cents per kilometre.
    • To ensure roadworthy vehicles through the management of preventative maintenance and ensuring annual “certificate of fitness” per truck on time and in full prior to expiry dates for the same in collaboration with corporate bakery distribution team.
    • To ensure a high performing transport team through the recruitment, training, coaching and supervision of the team responsible to clean and maintain trucks in line with Premier Way.
    • To prevent theft, protect our fleet assets and support cost effective deliveries through ensuring fitment of trucks with vehicle monitoring systems by the preferred suppliers.
    • Minimise brand related risk caused by accidents and incidents.

    Industrial Engineering Graduate - Elandsfontein

    • As an Industrial Engineering graduate in our confectionery environment, you will be gaining practical exposure to manufacturing practices.
    • During this time, you will work in our Continuous Improvement Department, providing support to Production and Operational Developments, while at the same time, picking up soft skills such as facilitation, time management and teamwork.
