    Senior Mechanical Engineer

    Job Description

    • A top-tier industrial manufacturing company based in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team.
    • This role will focus on advanced machine design, maintenance support, and continuous improvement across mechanical systems.
    • The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in industrial machinery design, preventative maintenance strategies, and project leadership.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Design complex industrial machinery, including structural components, sheet metal parts, and large-scale mechanical assemblies
    • Produce detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and comprehensive manufacturing/assembly instructions
    • Execute quality assurance on mechanical work and drive predictive maintenance efforts
    • Maintain and schedule tasks using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Collaborate with departments to resolve equipment failures and propose technical solutions
    • Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations and internal quality standards
    • Generate technical reports on failures, preventive actions, and equipment performance
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives within design and operational frameworks

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
    • 8–10 years’ experience in maintenance or production environments
    • Proficiency in CAD and computer-aided engineering software
    • Strong practical exposure to machinery maintenance or manufacturing processes
    • Advantageous experience in hydraulic system design and electrical control systems
    • Proven project and team leadership capability
    • Valid driver’s license and strong administrative proficiency
    • Familiarity with OHS Act and safety procedures
    • Hands-on experience working with a CMMS system
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
