    Key Accounts Retention Consultant - Payroll

    Job Description    

    • The Key Account Renewal Agent (Senior Retention Advisor) is responsible for managing all aspects of contract renewals within the payroll customer segment. The role ensures customer retention and renewal revenue targets are consistently met and exceeded by driving proactive engagement, structured renewal processes, and strong collaboration across internal teams, Sage Business Partners, Distributors and customers via digital communication channels.

    Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office.
    Key Responsibilities    

    • Retention & Renewal: Manage direct and partner-led customer renewals, developing strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Customer Engagement: Conduct quarterly renewal discussions in advance, validate data between Distributors, Business Partners and Sage, and update systems accurately.
    • Business Partner Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with Business Partners, tech partners, and distributors.
    • Query Management: Ensure timely responses to distributor, partner and customer queries within agreed turnaround times.
    • Revenue & Forecasting: Achieve and exceed revenue targets, track contract value changes, and provide accurate forecasting for all key accounts.
    • On-Time Renewals: Ensure all contract renewals are finalized within the month of expiry by initiating early engagement and maintaining consistent check-ins. Focus on building strong client relationships through ongoing dialogue, rather than limiting interactions to transactional renewal discussions.
    • Productivity Targets: Maintain outbound and inbound call productivity, balancing proactive and reactive engagement.
    • Churn Reporting: Document and report customer churn monthly with valid categorization.
    • Data Compliance: Ensure accuracy in all administrative and data requirements related to renewal contracts. Data accuracy maintenance critical on all internal systems.
    • Retention Campaigns: Drive targeted campaigns to increase customer retention through Business Partners & Distributors.
    • Collaboration: Partner effectively across internal business lines to resolve customer queries with efficiency. Work closely with stakeholders managing Key Accounts in Accounting to ensure a unified approach. Strengthen external collaboration by engaging proactively with Distributors and Business Partners.
    • Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Sage payroll solutions.

    Skills, Know-How, and Experience (Must-Have)

    • 3+ years in customer service or relationship management with proven retention focus.
    • Strong negotiation, influencing, and problem-solving skills.
    • Target-driven, self-motivated, and resilient under pressure.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
    • Familiarity with Sage Indirect Payroll products (Sage Premier, Sage 300 People, Sage 300 MCS,
    • Sage Business Cloud Payroll Professional & Sage Payroll Advance).
    • Solid Understanding of Sage Business Partner & Distributor models.

    Preferred Experience

    • 3+ years in retention with a proven sales track record.
    • Experience selling, implementing, or supporting Sage solutions.
    • Knowledge of internal systems and processes.
    • Distributor & Business Partner engagement experience.

    Technical / Professional Qualifications

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • CRM & Netadmin
    • Working knowledge of accounting software solutions.
    • University degree or equivalent qualification.

    Sales NCA & Migration Intern

    • We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Sales NCA & Migration Intern to join our sales team.

    What will the programme look like?

    • As an intern you will be working closely with our Sales colleagues in the Medium and Small segment with quoting & administrative duties, which will include assisting with sales processes such reviewing all opportunities before quoting. Check that correct tax country and branch are specified. Check that the Sales GP on CRM is calculated correctly, creating of new opportunities on CRM, Email queries to address and respond, Typing of quotations, Follow up with customers to confirm receipt of quotes, Phone customers to confirm appointments, cold calling potential customers, researching their company’s products or services, loading opportunities on various systems.

    Key Responsibilities    

    Summary of the Role

    • You will do a search on CRM and Salesforce to see if an opportunity already exists. If it does, they will just drop the quote on the open opportunities. If there is nothing, the intern will open the opportunity in Salesforce & CRM, drop the quotation on both systems and phone the customer to confirm receipt of the quotation.
    • Forecasting/ACV values/Commission to BP’s, remains the responsibility of the sales colleague as well as any other communication and stage progress on the systems.
    • In the case of an opportunity needing to be loaded on Smart sheets, the intern needs to be notified that they must load it in Smart Sheets. They will then do so. The confirmation email from smart sheet will be forwarded to the ASM to verify the data. The interns will not load it under their own names, but under the name of the opportunity owner.
    • Will confirm appointments and when necessary, move out appointments for their Allocated ASM.
    • Sit in on certain Sales Demos for exposure. ASMs to arrange.
    • Assist with taking minutes during those meetings/demos when needed by their allocated ASM.
    • Assist with Quotations for Runtimes.
    • Redirect business related queries to the correct department that has incorrectly been directed to Sales.
    • Load escalation webforms on behalf of clients.
    • Assist ASMs to do research on clients.
    • Assist in completing Due Diligence forms with the assistance of allocated ASM

    What will make me successful?

    • Must have a grade 12 matric certificate
    • Must have a degree or diploma in Marketing / Business Management or any relevant qualification
    • Must have no working experience
    • Must not have completed any internship nor graduate programme
    • Must be able to work on Microsoft Office
    • CRM software knowledge will be an added advantage
    • Must have a Clear Criminal record
    • Strong customer service ethic and high attention to detail
    • Strong trouble-shooting and excellent communication skills (both verbally and written)

    Marketing Intern: Accountants + Small Direct

    • Are you a creative and driven individual ready to make a real impact? We are looking for a passionate Marketing Intern to join our team in Midrand, South Africa. The role will provide a new early-career colleague with practical marketing work experience across campaign execution, reporting, events, digital marketing, stakeholder collaboration and marketing technology.     What will the programme look like?

    • As a Marketing Intern, you will support the Accountants + Small Direct AME marketing team while gaining practical experience across B2B marketing, campaign delivery, digital marketing, events, reporting and customer engagement. The role is designed to balance learning and professional development with meaningful contribution to the team’s execution capacity. 
    • Working with the marketing team, the intern will assist with campaign briefs, asset coordination, event and webinar support, reporting inputs, marketing trackers, nurture activity, customer-facing communications and stakeholder follow-up. The role will provide exposure to how Sage engages accountants and small businesses through cloud solutions, digital campaigns, customer journeys, thought leadership, events and performance marketing. 

    Key Responsibilities    Summary of the Role

    • Support Accountants and Small Direct campaign execution across AME. 
    • Assist with campaign briefs, asset coordination, landing page updates, email/nurture support and customer communications. 
    • Support accountant engagement activity, including roadshows, webinars, certification activity, accounting body programmes and customer spotlights. 
    • Assist with Small Direct demand generation activity linked to Sage Accounting, Sage for Accountants, free trials, onboarding and customer engagement. 
    • Help track campaign, lead, free trial and conversion performance for reporting and optimisation. 
    • Support event and webinar coordination, including registration support, stakeholder follow-up and post-event reporting. 
    • Maintain project trackers, action logs and reporting inputs for marketing interlocks and performance reviews.
