    Brewing Process Control Technician

    Key purpose:

    Perform optimisation/modification and maintenance of process control systems

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Interacts daily with the production teams to resolve quality equipment related problems
    • Assists in the implementation of plant and process improvement projects
    • Standby duties – be available for call out when required
    • Carries out specialized maintenance work in on quality equipment - calibration and set up work, complex component replacement, etc.
    • Ensures availability of specified critical spares and recommendations on maintenance regimes
    • Verification/validation of quality equipment operation
    • Uses SAP, other systems and reports as appropriate to analyze information in order to identify deviations from process capability relating to quality equipment
    • Sigga / SAP maintenance schedules management compliance
    • Problem Terminator compliance (previously known as 5 WHY)
    • Develop and maintain equipment performance report (ERI)
    • Develop and maintain SOPs / SWI’s in Acadia
    • Support in management of breakdown of equipment
    • Instrument set-up – NPD support
    • Supplier liaison (SPP)
    • Supports development of training material and coaches operational teams to ensure optimal operation of quality equipment
    • Provides specialist subject matter expertise and diagnostic skills in problem solving
    • Provides expert information to assist in compilation of maintenance budgets (including spares stock holding)
    • Continuously improves technical competence in order to ensure that latest thinking on operating and maintaining the quality equipment is applied
    • Ensure a safe, healthy and risk free working environment. Work in teams, support VPO initiatives

    Profile:

    • N6 and a Trade Test Qualification
    • Minimum of 3 years instrumentation equipment maintenance and PLC experience advantageous

    Brewing Operator

    The key purpose of this role is the safe operation of one or more discrete processes in the Brewing plant (e.g., Wort Cooling, Yeast Handling, Racking, SV operation, Bright Beer), the execution of process tasks, 5S, ATO, Quality Control checks and analyses to produce a consistent product of the right quality at optimum cost.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Operate the Brewing Plant and Process​
    • Performing housekeeping tasks, applying 5s principles and following safe work practices
    • Unsafe work practices must be identified and corrected.
    • Support the creation (drafting and documenting) of standard work procedures (including quick fix routines and problems​
    • Will to work in a manual plant that requires the movement of raw materials, machinery and hoses during various processes and operations​
    • Carry out the required quality +checks and analyses, and recording the results on the appropriate information system
    • Where quality problems have arisen, apply the appropriate problem-solving techniques (e.g., Quick fix routines) to resolve​
    • Escalate any identified or unresolved problems to CRO
    • Actively participate in meetings and goal reviews
    • Utilize the gap list to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities
    • Fully understanding the team goals and participating in team goal review sessions
    • Making use of relevant communication media (e.g., shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues
    • Complete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality​
    • Complete autonomous maintenance tasks problem-solving activities
    • Respond rapidly to upstream or downstream triggers that could result in out-of-control process situations
    • Apply problem solving techniques (e.g., 5Y, quick fix routines etc.) to identify and correct problems
    • Be a logical, analytical problem solver who can operate in an unstructured environment
    • A team player (prepared to communicate, listen and assist)

    Raw Materials & Scheduling Manager

    The key purpose of this role is to ensure optimum plant production scheduling and utilization of raw materials and people, to produce quality products at minimum costs which meet customer and legislative requirements.

    Key outputs and responsibilities:

    • Provides logistical leadership to all logistics, planning, exports and raw materials issues
    • Leads raw materials planning, forecasting, ordering, payment, budget control, supplier management and effective quality controls
    • Ensures alignment and synchronization of the regional production plan to inform the Brewing, Packaging and Warehouse operational plans
    • Consolidates and standardizes supplier and internal customer service levels and reviews SLA’s regularly
    • Operational management of all logistical day to day regional activities from raw materials intake through Brewing, Packaging and Warehousing
    • Optimizes stock management and performance
    • Manages human resources and ensures team synergies
    • Develops and documents the standards and operational procedures for all logistical requirements • Designs, costs and deploys all regional projects and technological advancements
    • Facilitates systemic problem solving and drives continuous improvement to minimize non value adding activities to improve waste or drive process improvements
    • Adherence to the health, safety and environmental standards
    • Department of Labor stacking exemptions complied with
    • Railway Safety Regulator requirements complied with
    • Site housekeeping standards maintained to ensure adherence to site safety standards as head of Logistics Safety, Health and Environmental Committee

    Profile:

    • 3 year tertiary qualification, preferably in Supply Chain and Logistics
    • 8 years’ experience within an FMCG/Supply Chain environment at a managerial level
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office & SAP
    • 2-3 years previous experience in a Brewing / Packaging environment
    • Good interpersonal skills / builds good relationships
    • Good problem solving ability, attention to detail, logical and analytical
    • Knowledge of all relevant legislation
    • High energy levels with a bias for action
    • Proactive, initiative and good self-starting ability

    Safety & Environment Manager

    The key purpose of this role is to provide the plant with a comprehensive and professional environment and occupational health and safety system. Ensuring compliance to environment and safety systems, standards and work practices to achieve targets set for the VPO environment and safety pillars as well as the environment and safety KPI’s.

    Key outputs and responsibilities:

    • Tertiary qualification in Safety and environment Management and Auditing
    • Successful Completed ABInBev trainee program (Brewing, Packaging, Logistics, Maintenance or E&F)
    • South African Department of Labor issued Government Certificate of Competence or equivalent legal requirement for appointment to the position of responsible person for Safety and environment
    • Minimum 5 years experience in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods environment
    • Experience in both safety and environment management
    • 3-5 years experience in either Safety/environment Facilitator or Controller role
