    Marketing & Sales Manager - ELSE

    You will be working as Marketing & Sales Manager and will be the part of Electrification business area for Service division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Area Sales Manager and will be responsible to lead and develop the service sales team to exceed the sales targets through high performance in order to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, develop and ensure successful implementation of the service sales strategy nationally aligned with global service priorities and local strategic direction, to profitably achieve qualitative and quantitative targets

    Your responsibilities

    • Creating, planning and implementing service sales strategy by increasing the installed base (IB) penetration, effectively utilizing ServIS (the approved Service database), promoting value add service product offerings supporting Life Cycle Management (LCM), developing and implementing a growth strategy for channels and channel partners

    Hoisting Mechanical Project Engineer

    You will be working as Hoisting Mechanical Project Engineer, will be the part of Process Automation business area for Process Industries division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Engineering Manager and you will be responsible for the full scope of mechanical and hydraulic work regarding mine winder / hoists for the South African and International markets. The role is office based design, however time will be spent in workshops, client offices and on sites to discuss designs, training and fault finding.

    Your responsibilities

    • Review mechanical design calculations.
    • Perform mechanical audits on hoisting systems.
    • Perform site surveys, collecting data and supporting engineering design.
    • Develop and use standard computations.
    • Make use of finite element analysis.

    Electrical Designer

    You will be working as Designer and will be the part of Electrification business area for Distribution Solutions division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Senior Engineering Manager and will be responsible to create and modify designs of equipment, systems or installations, including standard specifications for manufacturing, fabrication or construction for assignments classified as low to medium complexity by applying standard design concepts.

    Your responsibilities

    • Designing engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to specification, contributing to design reviews and design verification, modifying design as necessary and identifying variation requests to support contract claims
    • Following work and cost estimates for work in one’s area of responsibility and ensuring quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost, providing support and direction for entry level team members, which may include trainees and interns

    Hoisting Tender and Quotation Specialist

    You will be working as Tender and Quotation Specialist - Mechanical and will be the part of Process Automation business area for Process Industries division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Hoisting Sales Manager and will be responsible for the compilation of both commercial and technical offers for the mine winders business

    Your responsibilities

    • Completing technical and commercial proposals for the hoisting business line, taking responsibility for the accurate compilation of the full cost model for tenders
    • Coordinating activities with engineering, sales, legal department, supply chain and clients in order to ensure that complete and competitive offers are compiled
    • Performing preliminary design work for mine winder tenders and specifying and sizing the required equipment

    Project Engineer - EC&I

    You will be working as Project Engineer and will be the part of Process Automation business area for Process Industries division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Team Lead – Technical Consulting and will be responsible to design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity, complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects, cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements

    Your responsibilities

    • Evaluating, selecting and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments, providing technical support for testing, installation and commissioning activities, preparing project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables
    • Finalizing ‘Fail-Safe Philosophy’ and other key concepts as part of Kick-Off and Design Freeze Meetings, actively participating project meetings and resolving any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations
    • Assisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.), applying basic design thinking / design for excellence concepts in projects, actively utilizing checklists to perform design verification according applicable standards and engineering guidelines
    • Contributing and sharing experiences in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools and processes, sharing best practices lessons-learned documentation across different projects and disciplines, updating the engineering deliverables post installation & commissioning (if applicable)
    • Using standard processes and tools applicable to one’s area of responsibility, ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements, reporting processes and tools inefficiencies and suggesting improvements ideas

    Production Development Specialist

    • Obtaining DXF files from FTP server, creating GEO data files using TOPS 300, generating nesting project, creating CNC programs for Trumpf T2000 R and TruPunch 2020 punching machines using the correct tooling and optimization method
    • Ensuring materail utilization is optimal as well as record keeping of material utilization, producing setup sheets for the various machines for use by setters and operators, controlling daily and weekly production load by using SAP to run the Production Order reports
    • Ensuring machines are fully utilized for the shift, identifying and recommending opportunities for cost savings in the components manfacturing area, training of potential candidates as a back-up is essential for business continuity
    • Ensuring that the production demands are met on a daily basis, by ensuring the operators have the required programmes for the shift and taking the necessary action for any delays/ re-schedulling of work
    • Assisting and supporting the mechanical design team with component run times and weights per component for costing purposes, communicating any changes / problems with the design team, supporting all production related area with any / all emergencies for AIS Switchgear, GIS secondary swg and compact sub-stations

    • Must have a Matric, computer literate in all Microsoft Packages, SAP – experience will be beneficial

    • Manages the preparation of all technical (e.g. defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (e.g. total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary project management (e.g. quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions
    • In accordance with bid/estimate/quotation planning, ensures that inputs for editing activities are provided on time and according to established quality procedures, manages external services to support bid/estimation preparation such as translations and governmental approvals
    • Collects and archives documentation regarding the offer/order and records assumptions and decisions taken during the development process, regularly reports the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collects and analyses the reasons for tenders being lost and won
    • Identifies potential risks in the bids, quotations and estimates, and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels, provides information and/or participates in the Risk Review process in accordance with ABB policy
    • Responsible for collecting and collating all information needed to prepare the proposal, including both technical and cost elements
    • Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships to understand customer needs. Ensures a positive customer experience throughout the sales process and provides any necessary technical support to Sales Managers during technical meetings with customers
