    Teaching and Learning Assistant - Durban

    Job Purpose:

    • To reduce administrative tasks on the Teaching and Learning team so they can utilise their time on academic-specific outputs and in turn positively impact the success rate and graduation rate.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Administration

    • Filing of lecturer/ student consultations
    • Peer review documentation and administration
    • Assist and support in material issuing and collecting for lecturers (lecturer resource pack, lecturer handbook, access tag, notebook, stationery).
    • Ordering stationery for lecturers.
    • Ensuring the timetable is issued to OPS for capturing purposes on CAMS.
    • Compiling and coordinating assignment due dates in association with PC and OPS teams.
    • Administrative duties relating to Lecturer/ Student Orientation and any other student support workshops offered by the T&L (feedback forms, registers, etc.).
    • Agenda setting, minutes of meetings (Academic Committee Meeting).

    Event Management

    • With the support and input from the PM/HOA arrange and coordinate T&L events such as Lecturer and student Orientation, HoP visits, Directors Visit, Pulse visit, Celebrating T&L, Top Achievers Awards, CAT and CSO visits.
    • Manages and coordinates bookings of venues; Coordinates catch-up/master/ booster session schedules as per information received from PM/HOA
    • Graduation RSVP’s for lecturers (academic regalia, attendance, seating arrangements).

    Data Handling

    • Keep trackers updated
    • Student intervention tracker
    • Research tracker
    • Lecturer development tracker
    • Internal moderation tracker
    • Capturing of RCLearn hours as per RCLearn reports
    • Assist with SETS admin (opening of links, pulling reports)

    IC Administration

    • Printing of claims
    • Getting lecturer availability from lecturers for timetabling
    • Issuing of timetables to lecturers once available
    • Lecturer availability for consultations. Creating lecturer profile on APS
    • Uploading of documents on APS (qualifications, ID, etc.)

    Management of T&L Resources

    • Checking of venue readiness (whiteboard, proxima, air conditioning, tables, and chairs).
    • Ensuring venue sizes are correct as per the timetable

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 3-year Diploma
    • Degree and/or Education qualification is ideal

    Experience

    • 1-2 years as Senior Administrator
    • 1-2 years as tutor/clerk (Public institution)
    • 1-2 years of data capture and handling

    Student Advisor - Neson Mandela Bay Rural

    Job Purpose:

    • This role includes the implementation of the total marketing process to achieve the pre-set targets for student recruitment. The process includes school presentations, student interviews and phoning prospective students.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct School Presentations to matriculants and create brand awareness in the allocated zone.

    Job Purpose:

    • To teach/lecture allocated modules.     • Qualification in Education (PGCE or equivalent) or Training and Development is an added advantage.

    • Update learning management system and provide feedback to students.
    • Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at risk students, and develop assessments in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings.
    • Monitor student engagement as well as assessment submission with relevant escalation.
    • Attend and participate in academic meetings across all faculties.
    • Reflect on, review, and analyse student module result.
    • Support the monitoring of at-risk student in modules assigned to lecture.
    • Academic Professional Development: complete a set number of academic professional development interventions per academic cycle (one year) that contribute to the improvement of the Brand’s Teaching-Learning practice and personal professional academic status.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Master of Social Science specialising in Sociology with research experience.
    • 2 to 3 years Lecturing or Formal Tutoring.
    • 1 to 3 years of industry-specific experience in area of specialisation will be advantageous.
    • One NQF level higher than the qualification being taught.
    • Copy of academic transcript.
