    Learning & Development Consultant

    Job Purpose:

    • The Learning Consultant is responsible for the development, coordination and administration of a range of learning and development interventions for Hollard employees, as well as contributing to the development and maintenance of robust learning and development systems and processes. The Learning Consultant will also be responsible for ensuring the delivery of relevant learning programmes, leveraging technology platforms and solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Learning strategy development and implementation: Conduct business-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps. Contribute to the development of the Learning and Development strategy and ensure effective and efficient implementation.
    • Management of the general and technical training offering: dependent on the portfolio of the Learning Consultant, ensure the effective and efficient delivery of:
    • Product, systems and general training for new recruits and existing employees
    • Study Assistance: Oversee the bursary administration process (incl. payments, results monitoring and work back periods)
    • Learnerships: Overseeing the learning programme for learners through to graduation and placement stage, including the selection and management of service providers and effective management of the relationships with SETAs.
    • Leadership Development: Management of all programmes and initiatives relating to management and leadership development, including internal and external development programmes and coaching and mentoring initiatives.
    • Manage legislative compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including WSP/ATR compliance and accurate submission.
    • Learning and development administration: Co-ordinate all administrative duties relating to Learning and Development, including accurate record keeping and formulation of required reports. Leverage utilization of technology to assist in this process, as far as possible.
    • Build Learning Capability: develop the learning maturity and capability of the Hollard business through any additional opportunities available to you

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in Learning and Development, preferably in a similar role
    • Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation as well as e-learning platforms
    • Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting
    • Proven experience to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate,monitor and evaluate)
    • Demonstrate and apply an understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (Act 75 of 1997), NQF Act and Skills Development Act

    Outsource Portfolio Manager

    Job Purpose:

    • The role provides end-to-end ownership of the Black Broker Development Programme (BBDP) and delivers governance, risk, control, and reporting oversight across the Advice-Led Distribution environment. The role ensures BBDP objectives are achieved in line with approved frameworks, while providing structured assurance, insight, and decision support across Underwritten and Non-Underwritten Advice-Led portfolios.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Programme Ownership and Governance:

    • Lead the end-to-end execution, governance, and oversight of the BBDP, ensuring adherence to approved frameworks.
    • Manage programme structures, steering committees, partner reviews, and governance touchpoints.
    • Oversight of approved funding instruments (e.g. development grants, commercial or quasi-commercial facilities) in line with programme frameworks
    • Preparation of programme-specific funding recommendations, performance updates, and risk assessments for senior management and governance forums

    Advice-Led Distribution Risk & Control Oversight:

    • Identify and escalate portfolio-level risks, issues, and remediation actions, ensuring adherence to Hollard governance standards.
    • Oversee governance, risk, and control processes across the Advice-Led Distribution portfolios (Underwritten and Non-Underwritten).
    • Ensure adherence to internal policies, delegations of authority, and Hollard governance standards
    • Support audit readiness through structured documentation, evidence management, and control reporting.

    Reporting & Executive Enablement: 

    • Prepare structured management, committee, and executive-level reports presenting performance, risks, controls, and key insights.
    • Translate operational, financial, and governance data into decision-ready narratives for senior leadership.
    • Coordinate reporting inputs across Distribution, Finance, Compliance, Risk, and Operations for consolidated executive and committee reporting.

    Stakeholder & Partner Management:

    • Serve as primary liaison between Hollard and BBDP partner brokerages and internal stakeholder groups.
    • Drive alignment between commercial objectives, partner performance, governance requirements, and transformation commitments.

    • Identify improvement opportunities across governance, reporting, and programme processes.
    • Adapt approaches in response to insights, risks, and emerging business requirements.
    • Embed lessons learnt, risk insights, and performance outcomes into future programme and portfolio design

    Required Knowledge and Experience    

    • 5–7 years’ experience in insurance, financial services, or related sectors.
    • Proven experience in governance, risk management, and control oversight.
    • Experience in portfolio management, programme management, or business enablement.
    • Demonstrated exposure to committee reporting, executive reporting, and structured analysis.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Distribution.
    • Experience managing or supporting broker-led distribution or partner ecosystems.
    • Experience running or overseeing developmental programmes, transformation initiatives, or shared-value programmes.
    • Exposure to audit processes, risk remediation, and assurance frameworks.
    • Experience with both Underwritten and Non-Underwritten life insurance products.
    • Previous involvement in governance frameworks design or implementation.
    • A relevant governance or risk-related certification (e.g., Compliance Management, Risk Management, Project Management) OR equivalent practical experience.

    Educational Requirements    

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Management, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
    • Regulatory Examination (RE5 or RE1).
    • Postgraduate qualification in Business, Risk, Compliance, or Insurance (e.g., Honours, Postgraduate Diploma).
    • Certification in Project or Programme Management (Prince2, PMP, Agile).
    • FAIS-aligned qualification (NQF Level 6 or higher)

    Internal Broker Consultant - Bloem

    Job Purpose

    • To develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with brokers in order to attract and grow a  profitable portfolio, ensuring a deep understanding of broker needs and delivering proactive portfolio  management. The Internal Broker Consultant provides telephonic and digital support to  intermediaries by promoting short-term insurance products, assisting with quotations, renewals,  endorsements, and underwriting queries. Acts as a key point of contact between brokers and  internal teams to support profitable growth. 

    Key responsibilities:

    • Sales and Marketing: Assist the Broker Consultant to sell Hollard products to brokers and/or agents using consultative selling techniques. Contribute to effective marketing of the Company products by answering questions, resolve problems on topics such as policy status, billing, etc, and explaining new or revised products and processes.
    • Account Management: Support Broker Consultants to meet goals for volume and value of quality new business quoted and written within company guidelines, by managing all accredited brokers, process all quotes assigned, update quote register, all quotes to be sent to Broker Consultant who in turn will forward to Broker, complete the new business worklist and responsible for follow up, ensure all renewals are processed for preparation to negotiate with brokers – Broker Consultant responsible for final sign off, processing and following up all declaration letters, assist with follow up and confirmation of surveys and ensure Risk Recommendations are followed up – diary system to be used for this, prepare all new business closings prior to handing over to underwriting for processing, answering of Broker Consultant’s telephone in their absence. Assist with servicing, growing and maintaining renewal policies. Confirm rating and cover on endorsements requested. Assist in ensuring that all premiums are received and up to date on all accounts in portfolio. In collaboration with credit control review and discuss all outstanding premiums and arrears with Brokers on a monthly basis.
    • Risk Management: Credit control procedures, loss ratios, broker/agent agreements, ensure compliance with rating, underwriting principles and reinsurance.
    • Underwriting/Risk Analysis: Analyse qualitative and quantitative data prepared by brokers to provide approval for risk selection and acceptance, coverage and price. Recommend creative alternatives in regard to rating plans, coverage and payment plans. Ensure reinsurance is in place where applicable. Ensure reinsurance is in place where applicable.
    • Relationship Management: Interact frequently with brokers and/or agents and focus on service delivery.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • At least 5-6 years’ commercial short term insurance experience

    • Sales and Relationship Management are key competencies for this role 
    • Must have excellent communication skills (including writing and presentation skills);  
    • Must demonstrate the ability to negotiate effectively 
    • Must have the ability to analyse and understand data from reports, portfolios, and market trends. 
    • A sound understanding of the TCF principles
