    Media Traffic Coordinator

    Key Performance Objectives

    Ordering & Tracking:

    • Work with the Media Traffic Specialist, channel and acquisitions / commissioning to determine accurate needs analysis according to license start dates and schedules (for licensed and commissioned content).
    • Check status of available assets on-hand and determine suitability or the need to re-order (International and Local content).
    • Using Business Systems, Synergy’s Traffic Roster and Order Module, order content in correct format well ahead of planned first broadcast date and/or license start date – allowing enough time for Content Validation, Processing and QC before broadcast.
    • Arrange most time effective, safe delivery method in relation to cost and urgency of required content.
    • Liaise with Media Traffic DFD team on delivery method and content specifications.
    • Escalate any additional material costs to be incurred, to the Manager.
    • Track download notifications.
    • Regularly follow up with DFD team regarding progress of file downloads.
    • Prioritize effectively to meet Linear and OTT platform delivery timelines.
    • Refer new suppliers to Traffic DFD team for on-boarding.
    • On request assist with relevant traffic related undertakings that will help ensure a 99.9985% on-air accuracy target for the business.

    Timeous Processing of Content:

    • Confirm the correct content and additional deliverables (if applicable) were received as ordered.
    •  Work closely with the DFD Team to ensure content is submitted to Viz One/Other Platforms.
    • Ensure content is prioritized and routed through the programme acceptance process, content validation and QC.
    • Arrange and coordinate processing of content according to broadcast priority: Embargo, Express or regular, track to platform-readiness.
    • Ensure that content is processed with relevant attributes as per individual channel needs.
    • Ensure relevant business systems UID milestone statuses are updated at all stages of the workflow.
    • Log error-correction of metadata issues that could risk content availability for playout. (Including CE versions that are created by PGA).
    • Track content status through the entire processing workflow and escalate any delays to Manager or Senior Manager if required.
    • Swiftly assess any QC fail notices with DFD technical operations, re-order replacement content if required and facilitate expedited delivery to ensure the broadcast is not jeopardized.
    • Do regular follow ups on submitted content.
    • Address problems immediately to avoid delays in content processing.
    • Alert Channel or VOD of delays timeously.
    • If required, arrange and coordinate outgoing media to suppliers for any enhancements for repurposed or dubbed content.  
    • Alert Channels timeously of problems or delays due to non-standard format content received or non-tx content. Re-order swiftly.
    • Identify files urgently needed for broadcast in the 7 to 14 day to TX period and take necessary steps to ensure content availability for broadcast or publication on VOD.
    • For Local content ensure correct content is delivered 7 days before broadcast and that version control with correct UID’s are in place for routing content timeously and correctly through VizOne.
    • Ensure 95% of Catch-Up content is delivered to MAM 48 hours before publication by VOD.
    • Monitor last minute schedule/programme changes, determine impact on content availability and place emergency order(s) if needed.
    • Make arrangements to ensure content arrival and processing in time for broadcast and VOD publication.
    • Apply version control UID’s to re-deliveries.
    • Determine if scheduled legacy content is suitable for broadcast (or repurpose) and facilitate re-processing or re-delivery from suppliers if needed.

    Reporting, Controls & Processes Implementation:

    • When required, supply Management or relevant stakeholders with accurate status reports of content progress in the workflow.
    • Analyse impact of late arrivals and advise Channel timeously if delays may force schedule changes.
    • Schedule changes should always be avoided, if possible. Report relevant content delays to VOD platform timeously and provide updates.
    • Ensure all relevant supporting documentation is received and distributed to the correct departments.
    • Adhere to the Media Operations workflows and use Viz One and all relevant Synergy/business systems Tools to ensure accurate content tracking throughout the content receiving and processing workflow.
    • Actively participate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

    Content Security:

    • Adhere to content security protocols, ensure passwords and your workstation are always secured.

    Qualifications

    • A National Diploma in Business Management/ Media Studies or equivalent NQF Level 5 qualification

    Experience

    • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in broadcast or similar position
    • Video Entertainment Industry specific knowledge and experience
    • Media and content experience

    Category Manager: Marketing and Content

    Key Performance Objectives

    Managing Selected Categories

    For the selected categories:

    • Define and Implement Category Management Approach; Develop overall category vision and strategy in line with the established overall Procurement Strategy and Policies.
    • Deep understanding and technical expertise is required in the relevant category, specifically Marketing and Video Content and Production.
    • Act as an Account lead to one or more Business Units, and act in a Source to Pay advisory role to the Finance Business Partners and CFOs, and HOD’s
    • Establish category priorities and planning based on benefits opportunities.
    • Lead the planning and application of Strategic Sourcing, using the structured methodology, to address Category total cost of ownership.
    • Mandate to negotiate, sign and terminate contracts with regards to applicable categories, dependent on DOA.
    • Lead, develop and manage cross-functional category teams in Strategic Sourcing
    • Lead management of internal stakeholders: Work with business partners to develop and secure valuable agreements to procure materials and/or services which meet internal business partner requirements.
    • Lead the development and monitor the execution of the Supplier Management Strategy / Approach, including Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management.
    • Work with Contract Managers to execute Contract Management as a part of Category Management/Supplier Management activities and ensure regional and local contract execution resulting from with Strategic Sourcing.
    • Execute contract implementation in a way that maximizes future contract compliance. Monitor compliance and solve issues with internal customers and suppliers.
    • Plan for and set a plan for contract implementation in collaboration with central and regional buyers and when applicable, with the PTP Manager
    • Accountable for Category Benefit Tracking, to identify opportunities for cost savings and to measure the results of category sourcing and procurement initiatives.
    • Lead and collaborate with Sourcing analyst(s) and Sourcing Specialists (from the pool of Resources) in the different Strategic Sourcing activities.
    • Manage suppliers: Facilitate Commercial Supplier Performance Management for strategic and preferred suppliers, where applicable.
    • Good understanding of eProcurement, e-Sourcing and e-Tendering tools

    Qualifications

    • Ideally advanced university qualifications, preferably in Purchasing Management or Supply Chain Degree, Commerce & other relevant discipline.
    • Recognized qualification in Procurement. CIPs is an advantage

    Experience / Skills

    Required

    • Minimum of 5-10 years’ relevant experience in a similar role/strategic sourcing and procurement.
    • SAP system experience.
    • Deep technical experience in Marketing Video Content & Production.
    • Deep understanding and ability to execute on Project & Program Management.
    • Stakeholder Management.
    • Proven analytical skill and ability is essential. Strong competencies in data cleaning, sorting, visualisation, analysis and modelling is required.
    • Advanced negotiation skills.
    • Ability to manage leaders within a team.
    • Can-do go getter attitude with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
    • Experience with managing Preferential Procurement and Enterprise and Supplier Development.

    Managing Editor: Blitz

    Key Performance Objectives

    Editorial

    • Lead the editorial strategy, planning and output for the Blitz channel which includes: segments, stories, the L-Bar and ENG shoots
    • Compile and share the daily editorial diary and regularly update it with new stories and creative ideas in collaboration with the digital editorial team
    • Work with the SS.com editorial team and the producers on the brief and delivery plan for all shoots
    • Lead the team of journalists who create content for all news platforms (Blitz and SS.com) and provide guidance on content produced
    • Ensure Blitz output aligns to SuperSport policies and editorial guidelines
    • Review delivered segments, graphics, L-bar content, scripts and provide feedback to the relevant team members

    Operations

    • Develop and continuously refine the Blitz workflow and SOP’s per area to ensure a high-quality output across the channel. This should include contingency plans and a style guide that aligns to the SS.com guide
    • Work with the operations manager to compile work orders, rosters, and booking
    • Investigate and implement new systems and processes to automate and improve the Blitz workflow

    Strategic Input

    • Provide input to the strategy for Blitz 2.0 with a focus on automation, targeting a new demographic, and appealing to a continental audience
    • Keep up with the latest broadcasting trends and technologies and work on how they could be introduced at Blitz
    • Work with DMS on new commercialization opportunities for the channel

    Resource Management

    • Regularly meet with the Blitz team to provide feedback, ensure ways of working are clear and deliverables are being met
    • Manage poor performance in the team timeously and mitigate any impact to the Blitz product

    Stakeholder Management

    • Engage with applicable sporting associations and bodies to enhance the content offering and provide them with increased exposure
    • Build effective relationships within the broader Broadcasting community and with 3rd party suppliers

    Budget Management and Compliance

    • Ensure cost effective use of resources
    • Ensure all inserts s meet required technical broadcasting standards and channel image
    • Report back to the Senior Manager

    Qualifications

    • A Post Grad Qualification in Media or Production Management

    Experience

    • A minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience in content production or similar role
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of sport and the live news broadcasting
    • Proven experience in content creation and people management
    • Strong editorial skills
