    Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology

    The Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology are looking for a Director of Diabetes and Endocrinology to join their team. The Director assumes overall responsibility for the organisation, management and provision of Diabetes and Endocrinology inpatient, outpatient and outreach services delivered at or by the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Provide professional leadership within Diabetes and Endocrinology including training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.

    About The Role

    Clinical and clinical management responsibilities

    • Organise and oversee provision of inpatient, outpatient and outreach services in diabetes and endocrinology across the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
    • Provide overall clinical directorship including the development of clinical protocols; development, monitoring and reporting of benchmarks
    • Implement and support diabetes and endocrine models of care and patient safety initiatives as required.
    • Provide and allow for adequate communication to all stakeholders along the patient's continuum of care.
    • Participate in professional committees to contribute to the management framework and infrastructure to ensure the development of the wider hospital community.
    • Actively participate in Hospital's Integrated Risk Management and Safety Program, including participation in Incident Monitoring System and Root Cause Analysis where appropriate.
    • Manage the performance appraisal and development of senior medical staff and coordinate the performance appraisal and development of other medical staff.

    The Spinal Injuries Unit are looking for enthusiastic Enrolled Nurses to join their team in a full time or part time capacity. Located at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, successful applicants will practice under direct and/or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN); utilising clinical skills to provide evidence-based person-centred care within the unit.

    About The Role

    Spinal Injuries Unit is a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit that provides short term, intensive, specialist spinal cord injury Rehabilitation services for individuals with an Acquired Spinal cord injury (SCI) living within Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

    The Enrolled Nurse (EN) practices under direct and/or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN); utilising clinical skills to provide evidence-based person-centred care within the SIU. The EN consolidates knowledge and skills moving from beginner to experienced, applying their depth of knowledge and competence to effectively develop, provide and evaluate patient care, with regular communication and/or assistance from the Registered Nurse.

    The Pharmacy Department are looking for a Pharmacist - Senior (Cancer Services) to join their team. The successful applicant will provide a high-level clinical pharmacy and production service (including training, education and contribution to clinical research) as a member of the multidisciplinary team working within the Division of Cancer Services at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH).

    About The Role
    To provide clinical leadership and clinical practice supervision to the Cancer Services Team and to the PAH pharmacy team.

    • Deliver high-level clinical pharmacy services to cancer patients within the Division of Cancer Services and to actively contribute to the multidisciplinary Cancer Services Team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
    • Facilitate and participate in local clinical education and training programs for oncology and haematology pharmacists and support staff within the Division of Cancer Services.
    • Demonstrate an advanced level clinical knowledge and experience in cancer (oncology and haematology) pharmaceutical practice.
    • Exercise independent professional judgement in problem-solving and managing clinical caseloads.
    • Provide clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors and relevant service managers regarding service delivery, equipment, technology and the prioritisation and development of clinical services.

    About The Role

    The Spinal Injuries Unit is a part of the Queensland Spinal Cord Injuries Service (QSCIS) and is a 40 bed unit servicing all of Queensland. It is situated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in close proximity to all other acute medical services that are required to successfully manage a person with spinal cord injuries. Rehabilitation services are provided by an experienced multi-disciplinary professional team.

    It is the only Spinal Injuries Unit in Queensland. It provides a unique service being the only Spinal Injuries Unit in Australia that provides acute care, primary rehabilitation, transitional rehabilitation, outpatient services and outreach services and readmission care from the one facility.

    The Registered Nurse (RN) in the spinal injuries' unit delivers safe compassionate clinical care; working collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve best practice patient outcomes. The RN engages in reflective, analytical practice through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct person-centred care. The RN continually improves their skills and knowledge developing from graduate to highly skilled Registered Nurse.
