    Mechanical Site Engineer

    General Purpose of Role        

    • Field engineering position responsible for preparation and adjustment of basic plans, designs, plots, calculations, costs, and bills of materials in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, or other specifications. Carries out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports. Reviews completed tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications.

    •  Proficient within a field engineering / commission discipline. Work is subject to practices and procedures and may require periodic review with other teams or work groups. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

    Typical Qualifications            

    • University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or equivalent trade qualification combined with further relevant training and experience. Experience varies based on education background. Those with degree typically have additional 5+ years relevant experience. Those with trade qualifications will generally have 7+ years relative experience.

    Decision Making        

    • Decisions are based on established guidelines. Independent technical decisions are made within a project, but final project decisions and recommendations are made with others. Recommendations made are limited to the solution of an assigned problem rather than the impact of the solution.

    Supervision Received            

    • Works under supervision and technical guidance with regular weekly interaction with supervisor. Broad duties assigned weekly to monthly. Work is reviewed for accuracy, adequacy, and conformance with prescribed procedures.

    Supervision Authority            

    • May assign and review activities or work of junior staff, but has no authority for performance evaluations impacting pay.

    Communication          

    • Proficiently communicate ideas and concepts, developing the ability to persuade and influence others as needed.

    Systems, Processes & Tools              

    • Intermediate understanding of systems, processes and tools specifically related to field.

    Manager, Contracts

     REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
    The minimum educational, qualifications and experience that are required to perform the job competently:

    Minimum  Qualifications: 

    • Matric (with Maths and / or Accounting and English)
    • Tertiary Qualification – NQF Level 6 or Higher
    • Recognised Quantity Surveying qualification, LLB or similar

    Experience: 

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Contract Administration within the Mining / Construction / EPCM industry
    • Contract Management of a high value portfolio experience an advantage
    • Construction Management an advantage
    • Leading and managing a team of Contract Administrators
    • In-depth knowledge of NEC & FIDIC and an ability to interpret Bespoke Conditions of Contract
    • Project Management
    • Litigation or dispute Management

    • Good knowledge of contractual risk and contract law
    • Knowledge of EMS (Enterprise Integrity System)

    • Excellent written, verbal communication and report writing skills
    • Must be adept in the use reporting systems such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
    • Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance
    • Interpersonal and mentorship skills
    • Capable of identifying and meeting customer needs
    • Negotiation capability: effective in reaching win-win agreement fairly with others
    • Inferred capability to understand and apply Zero Harm principles
    • A sound understanding of relevant statutes and interpretation of commercial contracts

    • Some understanding of engineering concepts and application of knowledge

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

    • Demanding environment of being in the middle: supplier facing and customer facing almost simultaneously.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS ATTACHED TO THE JOB:

    • Willingness to travel or to accept field assignments preferred.
