Duties and responsibilities:
Administration: Evaluation of Applications:

- Conduct in vitro and in vivo trials, i.e., laboratory, glasshouse and field scale, to screen putative disease control agents.

- Candidates must submit proof of registration for a doctoral degree in Education with Foundation Phase or Early Childhood Development as the focus of specialisation.
- Candidates should submit an abstract of their thesis (or dissertation) to indicate relevance to Foundation Phase and/or Early Childhood Development specifically.
- A formal teaching qualification in Foundation Phase or ECD Teaching (e.g. Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent).
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant working experience in a school environment or at least two (2) years in a higher education or research and development environment.
- Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at academic conferences or equivalent.
- Provide evidence of manuscript (s) produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.
Recommendations:
- A proven research record of relevant publications in national or international accredited journals.
- Experience in postgraduate supervision.
- Experience in the teaching of Sesotho Foundation Phase and/or Early Childhood Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
- Provide study guidance and supervision to final year and postgraduate students.
- Provide clinical supervision to students in the Applied Master’s Programme.
- Initiate and conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
- Contribute towards creating a strong academic identity for the Department.
- Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within the department and Faculty.
- Participate in community engagement initiatives where possible.

Inherent Job Requirements:
- A PhD degree in Psychology or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment)

- Registration with the Heath Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist

Duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct innovative research in the following areas: Livelihood Portfolio identification, Using Indigenous approaches in community-based Research, Inter and transdisciplinary collaborations and innovations, and Livelihood transitions and futures.
- Contribute to social science and or community development scholarship on Afromontane communities.
- Author/co-author at least three (3) publication outputs per year in the form of DHET–accredited scholarly journal articles or books/chapters in books. The renewal of the fellowship beyond the first year depends on satisfactory performance and submitting an annual progress report.
- Initiate projects and seek funding for them.
- Register and reside as a postdoctoral research fellow at the UFS QwaQwa Campus and participate in relevant activities of the School of Postgraduate Studies and the Directorate of Research.
Eligibility requirements:
- Open to all South African and foreign nationals for full-time research at the University of the Free State.
- Graduated with a PhD degree within the last 5 years.
- Successful applicants may not hold full-time salaried employment during the fellowship.
- Successful applicants must be able to relocate to the UFS QwaQwa campus for the duration of the fellowship. This is a residential fellowship: the successful applicant must spend 80% of her/his postdoctoral period at the UFS.
