    Lecturer in English

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Teaching and curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Literature and Applied Language Studies;
    • Supervision of postgraduate students;
    • A research record, appropriate to the post level;
    • Academic administration and other duties as determined by the Head of Department;
    • Participation in the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research, community engagement and fundraising.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Master’s degree in English or Applied Language Studies;  
    • A research record, appropriate to the post level – at least one article in an accredited journal;
    • Evidence of relevant teaching experience at tertiary level.

    Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (One Position) - Department of Animal Sciences - Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • The curriculum development of and lecturing of modules in the programme(s) based in the department;

    Cataloguer (2 positions)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Online cataloguing on an Integrated Library Services Platform (OCLC WorldShare); making use of the OCLC WorldCat database to provide access to all library collections through
    • original and copy cataloguing of information resources in different formats;
    • classification and subject analysis of information resources in different formats;
    • Application and adherence to international cataloguing and descriptive metadata standards i.e. RDA, AACR2, DDC, LCSH, MARC21 and Dublin Core;
    • Maintenance of UP holdings on OCLC WorldShare;;
    • Collection and database integrity management e.g. identifying and correcting errors in the database, weeding, etc;
    • Participation in Library strategic projects;
    • Describe and enrich content on the University’s institutional repository (UPSpace) using relevant metadata (Dublin Core);
    • Professional guidance to and liaison with information specialists and other stakeholders.
