    Regional Assistant

    What will you do?

    The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Relationship Managers and is responsible for delivering quality service to customers, who could be either internal or external to Santam (including intermediaries, clients, partners and suppliers). The successful incumbent will provide support to address customer needs, concerns and issues.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Principal accountabilities
    • Prepare basic reports and statistics based on risk analysis.
    • Communicate with internal stakeholders to provideinformation, feedback and follow through on queries and/or instructions.
    • Address unusual and non-standard customer issues including underwriting and commercial related queries.
    • Task related decision making within set policies and procedures.
    • Research to assist in addressing non-standard underwriting issues.
    • Update Relationship Manager reports.
    • Create client profiles for identified risks.


    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    • Grade 12.
    • FAIS compliance (60 credits Commercial Lines and 30 credits Personal Lines) preferred.
    • RE 1.
    • At least 2 years’ within the short-term insurance industry essential.
    • At least 1 year Commercial Lines experience.
    • Proven MS Excel experience essential.


    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
    • Familiar with Word (basic), Qlikview, intranet and internet.
    • Understanding and knowledge of Santam process.
    • Understanding of all relevant customer support systems and processes related to all products.

    Financial Manager

    What will you do?

    •     Financial reporting of designated investment cluster businesses
    •     Management and statutory financial reporting, including consolidation 
    •     Ensuring that financial records are maintained which are comprehensive, up to date, accurate and meet legal and regulatory requirements
    •     Tax and VAT compliance
    •     Project management of specific financial Cluster initiatives throughout the year
    •     Stakeholder management with specific focus on business strategy and involvement in the various businesses of Sanlam Investment Group
    •     Management of budget process of designated businesses
    •     Assist with financial analyses or responsible for a division providing financial accounting services. 
    •     Applies principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports. 
    •     Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. 
    •     Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers. 
    •     Audits contracts, orders and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement. 
    •     Installs, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and control procedures. 
    •     May have supervisory and/or client relationship responsibilities.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    •     Experience within financial services would be advantageous
    •     Experience in consolidations will be highly advantageous
    •     Ideally 1-3 years’ experience within a Financial Accounting role

        Qualified CA
