    Senior Manager, Marketing, GM, CIB

    Job Details

    • Marketing: defining, marketing and protecting the Standard Bank brand across our business – including specialist advice and activity for specific countries and business units.

    Job Purpose

    • Develop and implement Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Marketing and Communication strategies and plans which deliver results to the CIB Business, also supporting a universal bank role in in developing marketing strategies and plans.  The role is responsible for development and execution of strategically aligned and relevant marketing and communication initiatives for Global Markets.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Participate in the development / review of marketing and communication strategies, policies and plans for Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB):

    • Develop and execute marketing and communications plans, projects and campaigns for Global Markets.
    • Ensure alignment to the Business and Marketing & Communications strategies for the Business Units, namely Global Markets (GM).
    • Translate the Business Units strategies into detailed CIB marketing strategies and plans.
    • Review business unit marketing strategies and plans on a regular basis.
    • Develop CIB operational plans and oversee the implementation thereof.
    • Ensure that the CIB Marketing Strategy and plans are aligned to and part of, the Standard Bank brand strategy, policy, standards and guidelines.
    • Identify the need for the development / review of marketing policies.
    • Ensure that CIB marketing strategy, plan and execution deliver commercial value to CIB.

    Manage Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Marketing & Communication Initiatives: 

    • Develop and manage Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) marketing and communication activities to promote products and services across the Business Units specific projects for Global Markets.
    • Lead the management and implementation marketing campaigns and conferences.
    • Measure results, plan and ensure implementation of various campaigns.
    • Develop and manage the creation and publication of all marketing and communication material in line with marketing and communication strategies.

    Evaluate all Marketing campaigns by:

    • setting up targets,
    • identifying measurement tools and reporting

    Track trends and use insights to improve effectiveness and efficiency of marketing.

    • Manage marketing campaigns within approved costs, quality and timelines.
    • Approve and submit a reporting dashboard on all marketing campaigns.
    • Monitor and propose action to ensure the effectiveness of all marketing campaigns.
    • Develop, implement and monitor all big ideas and channel strategy of specific projects ensuring appropriate approvals and highlighting capabilities – across advertising, digital, social, conferences and events, driving an innovation agenda.
    • Ensure that all communication complies with the marketing and advertising codes of practice, as well as banking regulations and codes of practices.
    • Develop the media plans, ensuring that Standard Bank’s CIB capabilities are leveraged in appropriate media, optimising spend and ensuring synergies and leverage wherever possible.
    • Provide a commercial perspective to marketing investment which fosters better decision making and a sense of a partnership and accountability at both a business and a marketing level.
    • Champion integration of marketing messaging across all disciplines to the benefit of the CIB and Group marketing strategies.
    • Provide input into in the formulation and development of internal communication strategies and plans that deliver on the Business Units objectives, using Internal Communications as a strategic lever.
    • Manage and measure relevant Business Unit conferences that will drive awareness of our product capabilities and provide key networking opportunities for the business units.  
    • Ensure that conferences are leveraged strategically to deliver results, steering business toward relevant trade-offs in respect of achieving the overarching business and marketing objectives underpinning each opportunity.
    • Monitor relevant CIB competitor activity and take appropriate action if required. 

    Drive effective Project Management of Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Marketing related projects for the Business
    Drive and deliver all aspects of the marketing projects including: meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis and monitoring procedures.
    Establish and articulate project scope, strategy and objectives to internal Clients, production team and key leadership.
    Commission Marketing research and competitive intelligence: 
    Request market research surveys and studies to identify potential markets for products and services – relevant to the Business Units competitors and strategies.
    Analyse research results and develop customer insights.
    Make recommendations based on research outcomes to Senior Marketing Managers and Business Units.

    Ensure that risk and compliance requirements are met: 

    • Manage Risk timeously and report incidents.
    • Partner with Compliance to ensure that all marketing activities are compliant with regulatory frameworks.
    • Complete mandatory compliance training.

    Ensure effective and efficient stakeholder relations: 

    • Develop and maintain effective and mutually beneficial relationships with the Business Units Manco’s and key product heads and enabling functions at a global and regional level.
    • Develop and maintain effective and mutually beneficial relationships with the CIB Marketing and Communications Team to ensure integration and alignment.
    • Develop and maintain effective and mutually beneficial relationships with CIB franchise marketing managers and in-country marketing teams.
    • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial and effective relationships with Group Marketing/PBB/ Wealth and Communication specialist’s teams in order to affect agreed plans.

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    • Degree in Marketing / Social Sciences.

    • To deliver on the branch component of the Prestige Banking CVP
    • Has overall accountability in terms of credit issues pertaining to the portfolio

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Plans, initiates and drives sales tactics (proactive cross selling for expansion) through NBA.
    • Acquire and onboard new customers.
    • Proactively identifies migration and conversion opportunities.
    • Ensures that targets and budgets are met.
    • Follows the on boarding process for new accounts and accounts that have been transferred in
    • Manages sales, customers and update marketing indicators

    Preferred Qualification and Experience:

    • Bachelor of Commerce Degree or Equivalent
    • Must complete one of the Qualifications listed on the FSB recognized list as well as the RE 5 examination within the allocated time (Must be FAIS Fit & proper)
    • Sales Targeted environment
    • 3-4 Years in a Banking sales environment
