    Environmental and Social Manager (South Africa)

    Job Description:
    The Environmental and Social Manager ensures that SHE Management Systems, Environmental and Social practices in various jurisdictions are in accordance with Group standards, policies, guidelines and procedures and international ISO certifications.     Key Responsibilities include:

    • Develop and manage integrated management systems to ensure achievement of objectives, by establishing and implementing approved medium- and long-term plans, aligned to the company’s strategic business goals.
    • Influence the revision of standards and required documentation on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to current legislations and group standards.
    • Perform effective management system administration activities through assessing and reviewing all data received and liaise with source information when required to obtain more details to complete information.
    • Investigate all serious and critical incidents and follow up actions and implement plans to prevent similar occurrences. Notifies the outcome of investigations to stakeholders.
    • Ensure all ISO certification applicable to the business is implemented and maintained.
    • Collaborate with teams, specialists and service providers to develop Basic Assessment Reports/Environmental Management Programmes for Southern Africa Exploration that will support the application for mineral rights.
    • Conduct required audits and inspections to enhance best practice and participate in internal and external audits for Operations/Sites.
    • Participates in operational baseline or issue-based risk assessments and follow-up on timely completion of action plans from risk assessments performed.
    • Qualifications:
    • Recognised Degree or equivalent in an appropriate field, for example Natural, Environmental, Social, Earth Science.
    • Being a registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner with EAPASA would be advantageous.

    Role-specific knowledge and experience:

    • Demonstrable experience in the design and execution of a major cross-functional environmental and social programmes within a multi-disciplinary, multi-geographical and multi-cultural environment.
    • Experience in SHE Management System and ISO certification implementation and maintenance.
    • Demonstrable experience in leading incident investigations.
    • Experience working with the relevant legislation in multiple jurisdictions, especially the RSA regulatory environment.
    • Working experience with prospecting right application processes in South Africa.
    • Willingness to travel to remote locations.

    Human Resources Generalist

    Job Description:
    Reporting into the Human Resources Manager, as the Human Resources Generalist, your role will support leaders in aspects of people management, help managers and employees interpret HR policies and ensure adherence to company values and objectives.

    You will be responsible for:

    • Providing HR support and guidance to managers and employees.
    • Actively supporting the delivery of De Beers people strategy by providing support and training to line managers and HRBPs for Group HR related systems.
    • Providing general guidance to support managers on employee related processes including grievances, disciplinary, long-terms sickness, maternity, etc.
    • Supporting the regular review and maintenance of people policy/guidelines.
    • Ensuring all pre-employment verification and medicals has been completed before offer is made.
    • Conducting exit interviews and analyses data for feedback to line and HR Business Partner’s for action.
    • Initiating and processing the “Welcome Experience” as the starting point for Onboarding of new employees.
    • Working collaboratively with the HRBPs to supports line managers and employees with the implementation and optimisation of Team+ activities.
    • Using reports and analytics to highlight employee behavioural trends to the HRBP and Line Managers.
    • Ensuring that vacancies are filled timeously with good performers. The right candidate for the right job, at the right time.

    Qualifications:
    Formal qualifications:

    • Matric certificate
    • A recognised Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology Degree

    Additional requirements:

    • Code B Driver’s license
    • Undergo competency assessment as required
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) on mine

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • 5 years proven work experience as an HR Generalist, HR Consultant or similar role
    • Ability to form working relationships with people at all levels
    • Knowledge of labour legislation
    • Teamwork skills
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Customer-focused and service-oriented
