Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Effective planning of specific project equipment to achieve productivity as per project scope.
- Effective scheduling and monitoring of specific project equipment, manage backlog and labor limitations / constraints.
- Determine skills, materials and resource requirements timeously and allocate to tasks following consultation with supervisor.
- Develop and maintain the site maintenance schedules, analyze data from the computerized management maintenance systems and identify trends and areas of improvement.
- Initiate procurement of spares and consumables to ensure availability.
- Liaise with the maintenance systems manager to on-board new machinery and provide site performance information.
- Identify and flag relevant legal requirements.
- Create job cards, with job safety analysis, in advance to ensure timeous availability of materials, skills and resources.
- Prompt identification of recurring defects and inefficiencies, flag, analyze and assist with close-out thereof.
- Engage with cross-functional teams, suppliers / OEM to obtain information that informs planning.
- Provide feedback and input to the site engineering team and procurement department at weekly planning meetings.
- Comply with legal regulations, M&RC and Client’s standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols.

Minimum requirements
- Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent
- Section 26 Recognized or Equivalent Mechanical/Electrical Trade Certificate (Fitter/Diesel Mechanic/Millwright or Electrical) or National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Proficient in computerized maintenance systems
- Proficient in MS Office [Excel, Word, MS Projects]
- Supervisory Development Program [preferred]
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- At least 8 years of experience in an engineering planning role of which 5 years as an Engineering Planner.
- Experience in an underground section particularly in trackless mining environment
- Exposure to CEMMS or similar software
- Experience in developing reports and analyzing data obtained from equipment will be advantageous.

Key Responsibility:
- Conduct investigations to identify the root causes of issues in PV plants and equipment for effective problem-solving.
- Implement strategies for preventative maintenance to improve the reliability and lifespan of solar installations.
- Efficiently switch between on-site inspections and remote monitoring to find faults in PV plants.
- Perform on-site repairs and maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
- Apply knowledge of Quality Systems to uphold high standards in O&M activities.
- Follow Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, fostering lasting relationships through clear communication.
- Apply basic financial accounting principles for client invoicing and quotation preparation.

- Ensure an accuracy rate of 95% or higher in root cause analyses.

Minimum requirements
Qualification:
- Minimum of N3 in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Trade Test section 13 or 26D with 3-phase Wireman’s License.
- Electrical Engineering Diploma will be an advantage.
Work Experience:
- At least 2 years' experience in renewable energy (solar) and/or electrical maintenance.
- Knowledge and experience with AC and DC work will be beneficial.
- Experience with online PV plant monitoring systems will be beneficial.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic plants will be beneficial.
- Professional communicator comfortable interacting with clients.
- Experience in project management and O&M of solar systems will be an advantage.
- Preference will be given to South African Citizens, Clear Criminal Record, Valid Driver’s License.

- Develop PV layouts for rooftop and ground mount installations.
