Responsibilities:

• You coordinate the work that the DevOps engineering team needs to do. You are actively involved in cross-team projects that involve development.
• You make sure the infrastructure you develop is secure and safe with regards to information security & personal data.
• You lead and develop the individuals in your team. You mentor them if needed. We also expect you to continue to develop yourself and keep abreast of new developments. 
• You document your work and make sure that your documentation is clear and understandable for future use by others. 
• Our team works in an agile way and you will be part of the rituals and practices. 
• You build, configure and maintain the infrastructure needed by the Triggerise software to run. You automate the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of the infrastructure 
• You set up, test, and maintain the infrastructure of tools that we use to support our software development and launch. You are responsible for optimizing the flow of work from build to release. 

About you

• You already have experience in a similar position and are excited by the opportunity to utilize your skillset and build a product from the ground up.

Requirements:

• You hold a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a DevOps role
• 1+ years of experience managing a team of DevOps Engineers
• Previous experience with Kubernetes container orchestration (preference for using K8s within AWS ecosystem)
• You have previous experience working with Cloud tools (preference for using AWS, including RDS, EC2, SQS)
• Below are some of the technologies we use at Triggerise: Jenkins, Terraform, Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Github Actions (experience in these technologies will be an advantage)
• You are currently based in South Africa

The Job 

You’ll oversee the Software and Data Teams, ensuring coordination and alignment between the two. You help them grow and maximize their potential on an individual basis as well as within the team environment.

• Together with the CTO, you oversee that the work done by the tech team is contributing to Triggerise’s overall and tech strategy. You help the teams plan and prioritize the work as needed. 
• You influence and check the technical standards, including software coding standards, data management practices, and tools followed.
• You help the teams to optimize the processes and practices that they share with each other and the rest of the organisation. You make sure they keep up with emerging trends in their respective areas and work with other departments to smooth out any obstacles in cooperation. 
• You make sure we have the right people in the right place by focusing on the structure of the teams, the development of the people in the teams, and by supporting the team leads in their roles. You create circumstances for the team to perform optimally and reduce turnover. You promote the global Triggerise culture and find ways for the team to work optimally with the rest of the organization.

About you

You have vast experience working in a collaborative environment of tech teams and are able to make sure teams and individuals are aligned in what they’re doing. You’re an excellent communicator, with people of all levels. You are a supportive leader, organised and structured.

• 8+ years of experience working in a software engineering position, with at least 4 years working in a leadership role.
• Capable of identifying and prioritizing high-impact problems, influencing engineering teams in the whole organisation to solve those problems.
• You enable teams and people to accomplish the goals set out and can guide and mentor others effectively.
• You’re able to communicate clearly what is expected, and how the teams will reach expected outcomes.
