    Surveyor (Limpopo)

    PURPOSE

    • To manage, plan and execute all geometric and volumetric surveying activities on assigned projects from commencement through to completion. The role also assists with surveying requirements at Fraser’s tailings operations by ensuring accurate data collection and documentation, thereby contributing to the overall accuracy, compliance and efficiency of tailings facility operations.

    Requirements

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Contract Administration, Reporting and Document Management

    • Prepare clear and concise survey reports.
    • Prepare assessment and evaluation of reports and attend meetings as required.
    • Conduct research on existing records, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents.
    • Maintain accurate field data records, survey project files and drawings.
    • Prepare, organise and present all data, charts, plots, maps, records and documents related to survey projects.
    • Identify procedural gaps, and support procedure(s) development and implementation.

    Surveying

    • Use modern surveying equipment and software to collect and process field data accurately.
    • Assist in resolving on-site discrepancies and provide recommendations for adjustments based on survey results.
    • Instrument Maintenance
    • Ensure all surveying equipment is calibrated, maintained and functioning correctly.
    • Transport and store equipment safely.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Diploma or B Tech in Surveying
    • Professional registration i.e. SAGC (PLATO) would be advantageous

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum four years related experience
    • Instrumentation knowledge/experience in trimble RTK GPS, trimble access software, trimble total station, auto level electronic level
    • Knowledge and skill in conducting volumetric calculations, control (GCP) establishment, surveys on tailings dams such as (beach, pond, freeboard)
    • UAV (commercial drone) surveying experience would be advantageous

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods and practices

    • Computer literacy i.e. MS Office, Road Maker, Model Maker
    • Knowledge of land laws, regulations and construction codes
    • Understanding of surveying (or quantity surveying) fundamentals standards and procedures within the mining or mineral residue disposal (tailings dam) context

    Excavator Operator (Limpopo)

    PURPOSE

    • Perform the task of excavating and loading materials as per company SOP/STP.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Excavating and loading of materials.
    • Connecting and disconnecting of pipes.
    • Construction of Spigot pipes stand.
    • Tailings wall construction.
    • Levelling using the bucket.
    • Cleaning using the bucket.
    • Perform Adhoc work as and when required.
    • Performing the task in accordance with relevant safety rules, regulations and job site conditions.
    • Conducting of a walk around inspection
    • Reporting all defects.
    • Completion of pre–start checklist.
    • General Housekeeping of Excavator machine.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12
    • Valid Excavator Machine Competency Certificate.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Approximately 3 to 5 years’ relevant work experience in an earthmoving environment.
    • Familiar with mining equipment and safety-related standards i.e. Excavator.

    • Communication skills (verbal & written).
    • Safety oriented.
    • Action oriented.
    • Ability to operate independently.
    • Planning & Problem-solving skills.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must pass company and/or client criminal screening processes.
    • Valid Code 10 driver’s license.
    • Must be physically, mentally and medically fit as per company and/or client standards.
    • Willingness to work rotating shifts as required.
    • Availability to work overtime when necessary.

    Operations Supervisor (Limpopo)

    PURPOSE

    • An exciting opportunity exists to ensure that several tasks are carried out on site to safety, environment and productivity, and to assist management with the efficient and effective running of the site.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Business / Functional Management

    • Execute operational and technical duties in line with organisational directives, as provided.
    • Support implementation of business initiatives as directed.

    Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

    • Work with materials and equipment in cost-effective way, as per standard. operating procedures and practice notes as directed.
    • Ensure full compliance to material usage requirements in executing duties.

    Risk Management and Compliance, Including Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) Responsibility

    • Execute all duties in strict compliance to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company's responsibility is met.
    • Comply with all reporting and information requirements.

    Stakeholder Management (internal/ external)

    • Ensure professional interaction with stakeholders.
    • Maintain working relationships with support functions on site and at a head office, as required to deliver in their section against standards.
    • Engage with peers and seniors on the project to ensure project objectives are achieved as per instruction.

    Operations & Project Management

    • Contribute to plan/schedule generation for daily/shift work, in line with project goals.
    • Responsible for operational execution of work, through delivery of own tasks and duties, as well as supervision of the work for team on shift.

    Management Operating System & Reporting

    • Ensure all paperwork and posters are displayed on the site office wall and kept up to date.
    • Ensure all reported near misses are recorded following procedure and submitted weekly.

    Technical Management

    • Responsible for adherence to technical standards and work methods , for section, in accordance with organisational and client requirements, policies, procedures and legislation.

    SHEQ Management

    • Checking sums are right on plan to drawings and quantities and that all materials and work are to the specifications.
    • Record the condition of plant arriving on site on a form with photographs.

    People Management

    • Lead and manage team.
    • Support, guide and coach team.

    Culture and climate

    • Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement for the duration of the project.
    • Align with client culture requirements as directed by management.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • B Tech or Degree in Civil Engineering.

    EXPERIENCE

    • At least one to two years’ experience working in a mining/tailings’ environment.
