    Engineering Specialist - Launch Dynamometer & Teardown

    Job description

    Role Overview

    The incumbent will be responsible to supervise the Engine Evaluation Testing and Teardowns team in accordance with quality operating system standards and timeframes

    Detailed Job Specification

    • Deliver Launch Product Validate plan.
    • Roll out AVL training to all technicians.
    • Coordinate any testing required at off-site test facilities (FERU).
    • Supervise/Coach Evaluation Technicians in setting up, preparing & conducting the various tests required for the testing of various production models/units on the dynamometer.
    • Ensure dynamometer availability, including all dress kits and spares, calibration & maintenance of equipment.
    • Analyse test results, investigate any abnormalities and compile test reports for submission to relevant departments. Analyse test data looking for themes, patterns, trends, out of specification, or out-of-control situations. Drive corrective actions for abnormalities.
    • Coordinate teardowns, component measurements, evaluations and cleanliness checks (green teardowns, COP tear downs, PV Tests teardown, and warranty) analyse the results and drive corrective actions for abnormalities.
    • Liaise and benchmark other Ford production Dynamometer & teardown facilities to continuously improve and be best in class.
    • Support quality concern investigations (internal, external & warranty).
    • Torque equipment calibration.
    • Maintain TS 16949.
    • Drive & maintain FPS standards in area.
    • Manage area launch budget

    Qualification Required

    • Degree/National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or NTC6 + Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience
    • Experience in dynamometer testing will be advantageous

    Experience Required

    • Proficiency in diesel engine operating theory or diesel knowledge would be advantageous.
    • Understanding dyno operating systems & testing and the application thereof.
    • Must be analytical and high attention to detail
    • Must also be able to work independently and as part of a team when required.
    • Must be able to use own initiative.
    • Knowledge of dial indicators, callipers & micrometers for measurements and competent in reading gauges.
    • Proficient in MS Office (intermediate level in excel and PowerPoint)
    • Being able to work a three shift system.
    • Be prepared to travel to customer or sister plants if and when required
