Our client is looking for a Chief Information Officer to lead the organisation in strategising, planning and implementing information systems to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial IT operations.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead the organisation in strategising, planning and implementing information systems to support business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial IT operations.
The person appointed in this role will be a member of the organisation Executive Committee, and report directly to the Executive Officer.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience with at least 10 years’ experience in leadership and support of information systems
• Must have Software Development exposure and enterprise architecture experience and ability to determine technical and business trends
• The incumbent must demonstrate commitment to transformation and compliance with the principles and practices of good corporate governance
• The person will be required to participate in various committees of Executive Committee

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Assume responsibility for strategy and corporate IT policy
• Engage with industry stakeholders
• Facilitate organisational debate by building new institutional and individual knowledge that keeps the organisation at the cutting edge of creative thinking
• Provide leadership in information and knowledge management
• Assume strategic responsibility for managing information flow and efficient access to information through the design and maintenance of the KM “intranet” including a searchable and globally accessible database of internal and external information
• Develop methods and procedures for collecting, organising, interpreting and classifying information for input and retrieval
• Support the EXCO with restructuring and change management in implementation of systems
• Foster institutional processes, both through intranet interactivity and through other institutional spaces
• Assist business units to identify key information needs and implications to business decisions
• Implement systems for measuring satisfaction of services
• Data mining
• Manage projects and risks
• Manage information sources and facility for easy accessibility
