We are recruiting for a Data Analyst within our Mr Price Group Internal Audit department. In this role you will primarily be responsible for supporting the Internal Audit team with data analytics and development of continuous monitoring and auditing reports.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

• Providing data analytics support and guidance, including development and execution of CAAT’s (Computer Assisted Audit Techniques) within the internal audit department and for the company’s external auditors.
• Development and implementation of automated continuous monitoring and auditing reports, trend analysis, tools, templates and dashboards (as an improvement to traditional audit sampling methodology, enabling 100% of a population to be tested, thereby increasing audit coverage and focusing on high risk transactions).
• Ad-hoc data analytics support to the business.
• Preparation of working papers and reports in support of the data analytics performed.
• Contribute towards the achievement of the Annual Internal Audit Plan.
• Creating consultative conditions by building good working relationships so that advice is sought
• Drafting internal audit reports that comply with the standards of the Division and that are balanced, objective and supported by adequate audit evidence
• Presenting audit results and findings to management
• Compliance with the Code of Ethics and the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

The minimum requirements are:

• Grade 12 with a relevant tertiary qualification
• At least 2-3 years of experience working with SQL and related tools (e.g. SSIS, SSRS) is preferred.
• Ability to analyse new and existing business policies, procedures and processes to:
• identify key business risks and process inefficiencies;
• evaluate controls for breakdowns/deficiencies;
• perform root cause analysis; and
• provide recommendations for practical, business-minded process improvements/ solutions.
• A lateral and critical thinker.
• A familiarity with the principles of finance, systems, organizational structures, people management, marketing, internal controls, retailing viability, etc.
• Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in power pivot.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and natural team playing skills.
• Internal/ External Audit knowledge/ experience would be an added benefit.
• Creative thinking ability advantageous.
