Job description

Responsibilities:

• Maintain financial records and prepare general ledger accounts
• Prepare and Record Journal entries
• Reconcile and maintain statement of financial position accounts
• Reconcile and maintain statement of comprehensive income accounts
• Record asset, liability, and capital account entries
• Record lease smoothing entries
• Payroll transactions
• Capture cashbooks
• Bank reconciliations
• Prepare and submit statutory returns e.g. PAYE, VAT, SDL
• Compile and manage cash flows
• Compile monthly management accounts for review and consolidation
• Assist with inter- account transfers and forex conversions
• Assist with preparing budgets and forecasts
• Assist with preparation and coordination of audit process
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Assist and oversee debtors and creditors departments
• Assist with all ERP queries, training and develop and implement new procedures on the system. System administrator, ensure all entries are correctly captured.
• Submit and manage insurance claims
• Ensure insurance policies are up to date.

Key Requirements:

• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices (IFRS)
• Knowledge of financial principles
• Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
• Working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. SARS
• Technical accounting skills
• Proficiency in relevant accounting software
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and proven track record in use thereof
• Multi-currency/forex accounting
• Group structure accounting/consolidations
• Certificate / National Diploma in Accounting, with minimum 6 years’ working experience within a financial or similar environment.
