    Senior Media Planner

    Job description

    Role Purpose:

    • Assist in developing the media strategy for the media strategist, gathering information, profiles of readership, listenership and viewership of publications, radio, digital and TV stations.
    • Make the Plan Happen – take the above strategy and with guidance from the media strategist, bring it to life to meet all objectives set.
    • Training – internally knowledge sharing amongst Vizeum staff.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Utilize the Vizeum proprietary process (Circuit) and the group proprietary tools.
    • For each media type (incl Digital) in the strategy by the Media Strategist, which vehicles do we choose via a Media Candidate list.
    • Compile a media schedule that is on budget, correct insertions, titles as per the candidate list, suggest best positioning in the publications - all which meet the media objectives set in the media strategy.
    • Project estimated media performance of each media schedule as guided in the Media Strategy.
    • All schedules are accompanied with an implementation rationale.
    • Cost efficiency and environment are the key criteria at the implementation phase.
    • Optimization should form part of the implementation process.
    • Facilitate media owner discounts & VAD outside of annual commitment deals, and tracking of spend vs. commitments.
    • Maintain an excellent relationship with Client, Creative Agency & other 3rd Party Partners. Linked to Vizeum MOST Award scores.
    • Providing the conduit for the client to the media owner, build this relationship to extract best for client.
    • Ensure that you are always up to date with the workings of industry tools and programs. E.g. AMPS, Transmit, Ad dynamics etc. (training will be provided as required)
    • Assist Media Strategist, Account Manager/Director:
    • Special projects related to media innovation or tactical ideas.
    • Evaluate Adhoc requests for client opportunities.
    • Keeping clients constantly informed about new developments in media, specifically those that relate directly to their brands
    • Providing information to compile media and trend updates, competitor ad spend data, and brand reviews.
    • Assist strategist with reconciling monthly billings with buyers and ensure that Client flow plans are updated accordingly
    • Reverting punctually and in detail to clients through direct contact in the form of a schedule, rationales, emails as necessary.
    • Ensure that the agency receives proper (written) approval /POs for all bookings, and that any risk to agency is minimized.
    • Brief the buyer in detail on bookings that have been approved, so they are constantly updated on projects and is aware of changes incl. Product, timing, special placement, cancellations and editions and special flighting requirements of positioning.
    • Provide thorough post campaign once the campaign has flighted.
    • Weekly Media Planning Status Reports where required

    Essential Personal Attributes

    • 3 - 5 years of media agency experience in planning including digital media.
    • Must be proficient in Telmar, Effective Measure & Ad dynamics software, and Microsoft programs such as Excel/Word and PowerPoint.
    • Expertise on media software’s such as Telmar & Arianna.
    • Excellent communication skills and speed of response.
    • Speak and write English
    • Comfortable in being client facing at times.
    • Excellent time management, organizational skills and communication of work completed/barriers/solution
    • Professional and relationship builders with people.
    • Attention to detail (accuracy)
    • Work well under pressure and deadlines.
    • Strategic within media & channel thinking (ito schedules/rationales)
