    Consultant/Senior Consultant

    Job description

    Job Purpose:

    As we continue to grow our office in Johannesburg and expand our presence across Southern Africa, a number of excellent opportunities have arisen for experienced Business Intelligence Consultants to join the team.

    Our clients come to us for support dealing with complex issues – such as assessing levels of corruption in new markets, identifying and managing third party integrity risks, investigating incidences of fraud within their organisations and embedding best practice anti-corruption and anti-bribery mechanisms into their organisations.

    This role is a joint delivery and business development role, focussing on Southern Africa

    • Project management and delivery (50%): Provide investigative and professional consultancy services to clients. Help manage the corporate investigations research team in Southern Africa.
    • Business Development (50%): To engage with existing and new clients, scope and sell projects and development client relationships across the region.

    Tasks and Responsibilities:

    The Consultant will support the business and contribute to individual and client-facing outputs in the following areas:

    • Client engagements
      • Take a lead role in scoping and delivering projects relating to Southern Africa.
      • Manage cases end to end in Southern Africa and resolve any issues raised by client.
      • Lead and service multiple assignments consisting of complex or multi-jurisdictional tasks, as full case manager responsible for the project cycle in its entirety.
      • Respond to a broad range of client requests and write and co-ordinate proposals across the region.
    • Delivery and resources
      • Maintain and develop new or enhanced sources, resources, subcontractors, with a focus on Southern Africa.
      • Quality control on a broad range of assignments.
      • Task and project manage researchers and junior consultants, considering appropriate leveraging to maximise profitability.
      • Mentor and provide feedback to junior consultants on their performance on cases to support their development.
    • Business Development
      • Member of account management teams and acting as key client liaison in relation to assignments.
      • Support the local global account services representative in developing client relationships; act in conjunction with account managers; cross-referrals to other regional hubs.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    As an ideal candidate, you will possess the following skills and experience:

    • Have knowledge of business issues within the region / practice
    • At least 5 years’ experience of managing due diligence and business intelligence assignments
    • Experience of operating in a commercial, client facing environment
    • Well-developed network in the local legal and business community
    • Have a proven track record on executing large consulting projects within a professional services firm (i.e. law firm, fraud/forensics or risk consulting)
    • Understanding of the compliance, legal and regulatory risks faced by our clients
    • Have a deep passion for high quality service delivery, helping clients and generating new business opportunities

    Qualifications and Specialist Skills 

    • Postgraduate degree or equivalent
    • Demonstrable commercial acumen when planning and pricing projects in terms of time, resources and outcomes
    • Methodical approach and strong project management skills
    • Communication – written & oral/ability to communicate complex ideas concisely
    • Strong client-facing skills, with proven business development capabilities / achievements
    • Client Management skills: ability to assess client needs and speak confidently and effectively with clients, listening and creatively addressing their issues
