    Adherence Counsellor X 4 (Roving)

    Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Deliver Enhanced Adherence Counselling to DR TB clients, preparing them for treatment initiation.
    • Create personalised Enhanced Adherence plans and educate clients on their treatment journey.
    • Offer comprehensive knowledge about medications, their side effects, and assist in packing pill boxes as needed.
    • Identify and mentor TB treatment supporters and ensure patients are linked to vital support structures.
    • Keep a vigilant eye on clients' regular visits and liaise with outreach teams for any missed appointments.
    • Innovate and explore possibilities like group counselling and adherence clubs.
    • Collaborate with our programme Linkage Officers to ensure all data is recorded in the THINK online system.
    • Maintain accuracy with our adherence tools.
    • Collaborate with our TB team to amplify the quality of care, patient retention, and treatment adherence.
    • Actively participate in facility meetings and community awareness events, championing treatment adherence.
    • Stay updated with the latest DOH guidelines, policies, and SOPs.
    • Embrace opportunities for personal growth through training programmes.


    Requirements:

    • Completion of a relevant accredited Social Auxiliary Work course or qualification from a recognised institution and registration with the relevant professional body or council.
    • 1-2 years of working experience within a similar environment or any clinical setting with TB screening and testing services.
    • Experience as a community health facilitator/counsellor.
    • Basic knowledge of TB care, treatment, and prevention.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in local languages prevalent in Bloemfontein and Sasolburg is advantageous.
    • Experience in conducting health promotion and education sessions.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
    • Familiarity with DOH guidelines and protocols related to TB care is a plus.
