Artisan Assistant at Tiger Brands

• To assist artisans performing repairs and maintenance duties on machines relevant in the plant.

Competencies and Requirements

• Grade 12 must have Electrical or mechanical background will be an advantage.
• Technically orientated.
• Must be prepared to work overtime and shifts.                                
• Excellent interpersonal relations and a team player.
• Problem solving abilities and fault finding.    
• Prioritising and planning ability.
• Willingness to be trained.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance management systems (DMS) will be an advantage.
• Computer literacy will be an advantage.                         

Key performance areas and responsibilities

• Assist Artisans with day-to-day tasks, which include:
• Inspection of machinery and equipment
• Minor assembly of parts and equipment under the supervision of the Artisan.
• Cleaning of machinery and equipment as per instruction from Maintenace Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, Planner or Artisan.
• Cleaning of engineering department’s area, services areas of responsibility as per instruction from Maintenace Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, Planner or Artisan
• Work from ladders and scaffolds as per business requirement.
• Report Safety Hazards
• Perform any other Ad-Hoc duties as requested by Artisan.
• Responsible for personal Health and Safety at work.
• Paticipate in the MECP and continuous improvement initaitives.
• Create and close job cards on the maintenance management system (DMS).
• Perform basic building maintenance work as needed.
