Assistant Environmental Professional at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• Advanced certificate/National Diploma in an Environmental or related field, with a focus on natural sciences, geography or environmental management;
• Post-graduate qualification in an Environmental or related field will be an advantage
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience with sound knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and practices;
• 2 or more years’ experience will be advantageous;
• Valid code B drivers’ license

Key Performance Areas

• Providing an environmental impact assessment service in the Strand district office;
• Providing professional environmental management input to multidisciplinary teams, projects and plans;
• Providing basic environmental management knowledge and support within the region;
• Providing input into development applications and the City’s strategic forward planning, policy & project initiatives;
• Preparing smaller environmental improvement projects;
• Monitoring compliance with development control conditions;
• Enforcement and remedial action for illegal or detrimental activities
