    Associate Project Manager

    • You will be working as Associate Project Manager and will be the part of Process Automation business area for Process Industries division based in Longmeadow, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Hoisting Operations Manager and will be responsible to lead the execution of small projects with low complexity and ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with company procedures, relevant cyber security regulations and standards, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, cost/profitability targets, and scheduling targets and includes project managers assigned to small projects in the service business

    Your responsibilities

    • Leading the project team allocated to the project, motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones, providing performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects
    • Ensuring compliance to standard ABB internal directives and procedure, relevant cyber security regulations, standards, and contractual requirements, ensuring that the project follows execution best practices and ABB policies, effectively monitoring and controlling project progress and efficient resource utilization
    • Monitoring and controlling project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow, identifying, qualifying, quantifying and managing project risk, and ensuring that all opportunities are identified and pursued, capturing, analyzing and sharing lessons learned throughout the project
    • Driving the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and acknowledgement by the customer, all in accordance with the contract, ensuring that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements, coordinating with supply chain management and successfully procures required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers
    • Supporting procurement and logistics in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes, acting as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues, building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicating with all stakeholders
    • Ensuring the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies, creating project HSE plans and ensuring that common HSE policies and reporting are implemented across the project with all stakeholders, including collaboration/consortium partners and sub-suppliers, demonstrating unique actions/initiatives to support site safety and ensures consistent HSE performance
    • Applying immediate recovery actions for schedule delays and cost overruns, under guidance and coaching if required, defining and appllying basic project scheduling techniques to manage schedule risks proactively to avoid possible future schedule deviations with OTD impact
    • Breaking down work packages into activities that provide a basis for estimating, scheduling, executing, monitoring, and controlling the project work and develops project schedule based on scope, cost, and resource constraints
    • Establishing a schedule baseline from which to manage the project schedule and monitoring and document progress for all engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, site work and other activities continuously, tracking progress and updating schedules regularly to reflect project changes and work progress and escalating deviations according to local guidelines
    • Demonstrating an understanding of critical path theory and can calculate and explain its purpose and function, identifying and planning all document deliverables required by the contractual scope of work and incorporates this plan into the overall project plan/schedule and tracking document progress and follows-up on overdue comments from customer

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Engineering drawing system
    • Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in finance background, good communication skills and supply change
    • Fluency in English language is mandatory
