    Business Analyst - Gauteng

    Description

    Deliver Project Scope/Reference Documentation

    • Identify and document the pre-project high level requirements, inclusive of (i) budget (time and cost),(ii) likely implementation schedule, (iii) training and change/ communication requirements, (iv) recommended delivery/ development/ deployment approach, (v) software/ systems/ application and technical infrastructural requirements, (vi) assess the degree of fit with business strategic/ tactical/ operational objectives/ requirements, and (vii) detail project acceptance criteria
    • Consultation with stakeholders
    • Interpretation of facts, figures and needs
    • Translation into application and operational requirements

    Deliver Functional Requirement Documentation (with Technical Environment Requirements (if applicable)

    • Describe the solution at business functional and technical delivery level.
    • Identify systems, processes, procedures and user requirements and possible interaction with 3rd party systems.
    • Interpret business/process functional needs and translate into application and operational requirements.
    • Analyse and critically evaluate information flow, gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
    • Distinguish a business problem's symptoms from its root cause, and highlight the true root cause/s.
    • Ensure that the right decision makers are involved in the project and have an opportunity to provide input.
    • Compile a clear functional description of processes and definition of approach how to best solve the problem and deliver the following as needed: (Functional requirements, Flow diagrams, etc.)
    • Define the functional and technical testing requirements and acceptance criteria for the business and the technical team
    • Define the test plan for project acceptance
    • Core objective is to inspire solutions that are designed and delivered fit for purpose and on time and within budget, considering impact on other systems, and people and process

    Business Domain Knowledge Demonstration and Application

    • Gathering context and background information, and understand the impact on the corporate, business process, user/staff performance, process efficiency and information flow with the objective to promote the single store with multiple view of data/information through the business .
    • Personal commitment to continuous advance of knowledge and business domain aspects.
    • Retain information about the domain, technology and systems options/advances an document for personal and peer training use.

    Technical Domain Knowledge Demonstration and Application

    • Analysis of information about the technologies in scope of the role application, inclusive of technical    infrastructural arena
    • Understanding of 3rd party systems in scope of the role application
    • Collaborate with software and application developers and specific subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.

    Continued demonstration of effective communication and interpersonal skills, including professionalism

    • Proactively communicate and collaborate with the technical teams and other stakeholders/ individuals, externally and internally
    • Obtain requirements using interviews, facilitating requirements workshops, surveys, site visits
    • Verbal and written communication professional skills to interact with diverse groups including executives, managers, and subject matter experts
    • Effectively focusing efforts only on components that have a bearing on the system under analysis/design
    • An ability to challenge business units on their assumptions on possible solutions and how to successfully execute plans
    • Demonstrating good office tool knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Visio)

    Deliver Multi-tasking without losing focus on core outcomes

    • Understand the difference between urgency and importance
    • Practice personal action list prioritisation
    • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously such that initiatives of different stake holders are coordinated
    • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams on ad hoc matters, and find methods and agreements to maximise outcomes using teams
    • Employ follow-up strategies for solving problems experienced during implementation
    • Do other tasks needed to successfully implement solutions

    Required Minimum Education and Experience : 

    • Matric Certificate
    • A minimum of three-year tertiary qualification (BSc) in Business Analysis/ Computer Science/Information Systems  Postgrad Qualification in Computer Science/ Information Systems/ Business Management/ Project Management
    • A minimum of 5 years' direct involvement in a Business and/or Process Analysis unit with cross divisional/departmental information andprocess flows
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a role in Public Services, and preferably in the public health sector
    • Experience with hospital information systems and having specific BA responsibilities for a large system deployment project spanning multiple sites
    • Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies
    • Strong computer technical skills.
    • The ability to communicate confidently from both a business and a technical perspective, successfully translating executive, business corporate and application functional requirements to a technical community with minimum loss of understanding and appreciation.
    • Monitoring and managing the delivery of a final application outcome that answers for the agreed executive, business corporate and application functional requirements.
