Business Unit Manager - CM & Dis-Assembly (Wadeville) at Komatsu Mining

Key Performance Areas

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Management of team members through the adherence of company policies and procedures.
• Management of resources and costs to ensure that productivity, recoveries, turnaround time and sales targets are met.
• Ensures compliance to production schedules, machine build plans, quality processes, efficiency standards and WIP.
• Drive CI initiatives to ensure operational excellence (OpEx).
• Drives strategic plan for the business unit/s to ensure business grows in a sustainable manner.
• Align resource requirements with capacity plan and conduct forward looking exercises to create predictability.
• Promote the K-way and the Monozukuri principles of Komatsu.
• Maintain and manage all equipment and tools.
• Training and mentoring staff; motivating them all for effective performance for the general growth of the company.
• Analyze and explore market trends; identifying new opportunities to grow the business.
• Coordinate with other HOD’s and managers to integrate objectives and ideas for organizational growth.

Minimum Skills Required

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or similar qualification) and/or Production Management
• Studying towards Post Graduate Qualification in Business and/or Project Management will be advantageous.
• Management Course – Focused on People Management
• 3-5 years’ experience working at a middle management level within an Engineering/Industrial environment.
• Must have experience in executing plans, delivering business goals, and implementing changes in order to achieve or exceed targets.
• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and lean principles.
• Previous experience working within and or managing a unionized workforce.
• Advanced computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience using ERP’s (SAP)
• Must have driver’s license and own transport
