    Buyer - Pump Operations

    JOB STATEMENT

    • Supports the procurement and production planning process. Responsible for updating and maintaining Master Data based on quotations and pricing received. Responsible to support planning process, subcon po’s and control duties by recording the movement of products, through the production process against pre-planned schedules.  

                                                                                       

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Procurement

    • Assist with SAP related queries
    • Update Purchase Information Records on SAP
    • Update Fixed vendor on SAP
    • Update Material Master with BOM cost when required
    • Update Material Master, e.g., purchasing group, special procurement key, lead-time
    • Retain all relevant correspondence by e-filing or hard copies and attach relevant info on SAP
    • Check BOM’s for YC and Y9 blocks on SAP and compile list for sourcing purposes – to be submitted to Procurement Manager
    • Submit drawing requests on JD and follow up progress
    • Follow up on progress of RFQ’s, when required
    • Create and manage Sub Con PO for outsource partner for Pump Operations only
    • Expedite outstanding PO’s with Operative Purchasers for on time delivery for BOM components
    • Adhere to Safety policies, procedures, and work instructions
    • Compliance to Occupational Health and Safety Act
    • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment is used as required
    • Manage the housekeeping in area of responsibility
    • Perform other duties as required by Procurement Manager and Pumps Operations Manager

    Planning Production

    • Adhere to Pump Manufacturing norms and operating principles.
    • Develop shortage lists against sub con Purchase Orders’ demands and expedite with buyers
    • Ensuring outstanding spares for jobs are expedited and picked by the warehouse.
    • Manage vendor stock on a bi-weekly basis
    • Manage virtual receipt process from start to finish
    • Perform other duties as required by the Planning Manager of the Planning function.
    • Attend weekly meetings with Mo team and outsource partner

    Planning Production – Backup / Stand in

    • Determine shipping commitment dates and communicate to sales
    • Create Job files that needs to be actioned by Outsource partner
    • Generate picking lists for DHL to execute
    • Maintain jobs and make requisitions on business system
    • Take immediate action on non-conformance reports and Engineering change notices
    • Analyse Sub con PO variances and close Sub Con jobs as required
    • Resolve job variances and costing
    • Organizing pumps to be painted through sub-contractor
    • Report and ensuring spares are available for picking
    • Accumulating information and organizing information for customer liaison- project feedback
    • Assist in breakdowns
    • Expediting air and sea freight with the logistic department
       

    RELATIONSHIPS

    • Report directly to the Procurement and Sourcing Manager
    • Assist Planning Manager when required
       

    INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL INTERFACES

    •  Internal Sales Engineers, Buyers, Sourcing personnel, Expeditors, Production Engineers and Production staff.
    • Planning Manager
    • Key Global and Local customers within the BL & Key suppliers.
       

    POSITION SPECIFICATION

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, competency and /or ability required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • Experience working with Suppliers and Customer in an integrated global supply chain
    • 5/7 years’ experience working in the mining industry or relevant
    • 3 Years’ experience in a SAP as a Production Co-ordinator / Administrator / Buyer
    • Computer literate especially

    • Well Spoken and ability to stay calm and focused under high pressure situations

    • Self-motivated / performance driven focus on providing excellent customer service
    • Prepared to work flexible work hours to meet deadlines when required
    • Strong communication, co-operation and interpersonal skills to manage internal and external interfaces
