    Campus Deputy Head - Midrand

    Varsity College is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE). The IIE enjoys the reputation of being at the forefront of private higher education in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) to provide higher education qualifications accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

    The IIE's Varsity College, Online Centre has a vacancy for a Campus Deputy Head.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Human Capital Management

    • Manages performance of staff within reporting teams.
    • Ensures that the Academic, Operations and Student Experience (Online Success Navigator/ Customer Relations Officer) staff teams have correct capacity.
    • Adheres to company Human Resources processes and policies and ensures that reporting teams adhere to these processes and policies accordingly.
    • Provides support to the team via mentoring, performance management and staff development.
    • Interviews potential new staff members and makes recommendations to management.
    • Ensures that staff have been trained and meet the requirements as set out by management in order to understand policy and procedure.

    Budget Management

    • Compiles departmental budgets.
    • Manages budget projected versus actual.
    • Manages spend on budget.
    • Revises budget as and when required.
    • Addresses overspending and under spending and takes remedial action.
    • Reports to Campus Head on overspend and under spend and how the budget is being managed

    Quality Assurance of Academic and Operations Delivery

    • Oversees the Academic Department with allocation of OTs, programme management and operational delivery for the academic year.
    • Assess results and supports students where necessary, e.g. host workshops if results are low or organises supplementary exams.
    • Oversees campus compliance in respect of Group Internal Audits or any other audit which may present operational compliance and manages improvement plans.
    • Continually reviews current systems and procedures in place to ensure that outputs are high quality and effective.
    • Ensures that departments are working in line with The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE) policies and procedures.

    Customer Service Delivery & Student Experience

    • Continuously gathers and reviews student platforms and entry points of feedback to proactively align the campus student experience activities and interventions
    • Supports and point of escalation to addresses student queries and connects the student to the correct member of staff to resolve queries
    • Ensures multidepartment synergy and cohesion to ensure seamless student experience
    • Manages the campus communication strategy to students regarding student academic, operational and student experience matters
    • Consolidates and supports the delivery of the multidepartment plans and ensures synergy and cohesion across departments
    • Plans and oversees the new student Orientation/ Onboarding program from an academic, operations and student experience perspective
    • Supports the development of individual departmental plans as aligned to the overall brand customer service plan
    • Oversees and manages fulfilment of Services Level Agreements (SLA's) across the various departments and external stakeholders
    • Responsible for student retention in collaboration with the Head: Academic Operations and Manager: Online Teaching & Learning Manager/ Head Academic

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • Advanced Diploma / Bachelors Degree (NQF level 7) in Marketing or related field

    Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

    • 6 Years in a Senior Management Role in the Education Environment
