Job Description

As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our organization's databases. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the security, integrity, and performance of the database systems, as well as collaborating with other IT professionals to implement solutions and enhance overall data management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Design and Architecture:

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient and secure database structures.
• Collaborate with software developers to translate application requirements into database designs.

Database Installation and Configuration:

• Install and configure database software and ensure proper functionality.
• Perform regular updates and patches to keep databases up-to-date.

Data Security and Integrity:

• Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard the database systems.
• Monitor and manage user access, permissions, and data integrity.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Optimize database systems for optimal efficiency and responsiveness.

Backup and Recovery:

• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability.
• Test and validate backups regularly to guarantee data integrity.

Database Documentation:

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Keep documentation up-to-date with changes in the database environment.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other IT professionals, such as system administrators and software developers, to ensure seamless integration of database systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members as needed.

Requirements

• Degree (NQF level 7) in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Informatics, or Engineering. AND Professional Certification in Administration of
• Oracle
• MS SQL
• 5+ years’ experience in Database Administration
• 5+ Year experience in Database query Development
• 5 years’ experience in Replication, Clustering and Mirroring
