    Electrical Maintenance Team Lead - Employees of Mission - All/or USEFMs, EFMs, or MOHs

    Duties

    • The incumbent oversees daily operation of the building electrical engineering systems at the three Embassy Compounds and numerous owned/leased residential properties in Pretoria. S/He manages work load as per the approved planned maintenance schedule, provides service for repairs, assigns tasks to subordinate staff, performs troubleshooting, and provides hands-on technical guidance to subordinate staff. Incumbent is directly supervised by the Electrical Generator Maintenance Supervisor. S/He inspects work of planned maintenance, repairs, special projects and contractors to ensure compliance with requirements. Building electrical engineering systems maintained by incumbent include, but not limited to, emergency generator controls, fire alarm control, elevators, automatic transfer switches, relay controls, programmable control systems for switchgear, medium voltage transformers, and motor control centers. S/He assists the maintenance staff at the Consulates in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town. S/He performs scheduled after-hours duty for 24/7 emergencies.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:
    EXPERIENCE:  

    • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in operation and maintenance of building electrical and power generation services in commercial and/or residential and/or government buildings is required.
    • One (1) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience is required.

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:

    • Local buildings codes and local utility company’s regulations. Utility companies like electrical, gas, water/sewer are required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Completion of high school (12th grade) is required. Completion of three years of local technical college/trade school where the N3 and Red Seal certifications are earned OR an associate degree in either electrical or mechanical trade is required.

    Evaluations:
    LANGUAGE:

    • Good Working Knowledge English, written and spoken is required. 

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Work independently in managing the work-load of maintenance trade technicians. Schedule work for subordinate staff for daily, weekly, monthly routines. Monitor work to ensure assigned tasks are carried out by workers promptly and in full measure. Good technical troubleshooting skills of electrical building systems. Good computer skills and understanding. Local Driver's License is required. The job holder must have held a driver's license for at least 5 years.
