    Employee Benefits Administrator (Medical Aid) (AD.09)

    Duties and responsibilities:
    The successful incumbent will be responsible for the  Medical Aid administration in accordance with University policies and including but not limited to the following duties:

    • Ensure accurate and timeous  capturing of new applications; amendments (withdrawal and additions of dependants) and terminations and ensuring that all supporting documentation is uploaded and stored appropriately
    • Maintaining and updating membership data, preparing reports  and controls  on a monthly basis in line with the agreed SLA adherence  with the  broker (Alexander Forbes) and the respective medical aid scheme options as provided by (Discovery; Medsheild and Umvuzo)
    • Responsible for the reconciliation and billing processes with minimal discrepancies, including arrears and refund processing  within the agreed timelines with all key stakeholders (HR, Payroll,  broker and each of the medical aid schemes)
    • Post-retirement medical aid administration and queries with respect to subsidy eligibility and implementation, dealing with pensioner queries, scheme  and option changes
    • Dealing with employee and pensioner queries , either walk-in; telephone and email  and ensure timeous escalation where appropriate
    • Communication and counselling University staff (past, current and new) telephonically, via email, formal and informal meetings on all matters relating to medical aid benefit offering  and administration    

    Qualification and Experience:

    • Post-matric qualification in the employee benefits environment.  A sound knowledge of at least 5 years’ experience in employee benefits administration.  The candidate must have a thorough knowledge of the relevant legislation, specifically the Medical Aid Schemes  Act and tax legislation. Proficiency in Excel and HR systems, preferably Oracle. 

    Skills and Attributes:

    • Excellent communication, supervisory and interpersonal skills. Must be numerate, analytical, accurate, highly organized, ability to work with sensitive and confidential information within strict deadlines.
